Tate McRae Tops Spotify's 2025 Global Impact List of Most Streamed Canadian Music Around The World
The streaming company's new Global Impact List also is also dominated by Drake and The Weekend

Canada is continuing to prove its strength as a global cultural exporter.
Spotify is unveiling its second Canadian Global Impact List, which highlights Canadian artists whose songs were in heavy rotation among listeners around the world over the first half of 2025.

The list includes Calgary pop singer Tate McRae, Scarborough star The Weeknd and Toronto rapper Drake.
McRae is notching new highs for Canadian women as she claims the No. 1 slot with “Sports Car.” The pop star secured four spots in total and two of the top 3, including “Revolving Door” at No. 3 and “I Know Love” featuring The Kid LAROI at No. 7 — from her chart-topping album So Close To What. Her duet with country juggernaut Morgan Wallen, “What I Want,” ranks at No.8.

It's a victory not just for Tate, but for female Canadian artists. In 2024, more than 40% of Canadian artists who earned over $1 million on Spotify were women or members of mixed-gender groups. Canada ranks among the top global markets for female representation among its highest-earning artists on the platform.
McRae is tied with The Weeknd for number of entries, who hits the list with “Cry For Me” at No. 4, “Rather Lie,” a collaboration with Playboi Carti at No. 5, “Baptized in Fear” at No. 9 and “The Abyss,” featuring Lana Del Rey at No. 10.
Despite Drake accusing the streaming service of contributing to an illegal “scheme” involving bots, payola and other methods to push Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” Drizzy nabs two entries on Spotify's list — “Nokia” at No. 2 and “Die Trying,” featuring PARTYNEXTDOOR and Yebba, at No. 6.
Canadians are also well-represented on Spotify's 2025 Global Impact List for the whole world.

The list accounts for the songs most popular outside of the artist's home country. Globally, three of the most-streamed tracks are from Canadian artists.

As with the Canadian top 10, McRae is making the most noise, with her tracks “Sports Car” and “Revolving door," ranking at No. 2 and No. 9 on the list, respectively.
Drake nabs one entry at No. 5 on the list with “Nokia.”

The list follows Spotify's first-ever Global Impact List, which was released earlier this year for Canada. That list featured emerging Toronto singer Chris Grey as well as Canadian-Punjabi artists Shubh and Raghav alongside heavyweights Drake and the Weeknd.
In June, Spotify reported that nearly 15 million hours of Canadian music are streamed globally every day, and Canadian artists are featured on 2.4 billion user playlists worldwide.
