Rush Praise Angine de Poitrine: 'Most Entertaining and Exhilarating Music in a Long, Long Time'
Founding members Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson stopped by the Chilean radio show Radio Futuro and spoke about the band’s unique playing style and their infectious qualities.

Angine de Poitrine have more high-profile Canadian fans: Rush.
A few weeks after Shania Twain declared her fandom in an interview with Billboard Canada, Rush's Geddy Lee has added some praise of his own for the breakout Quebec band.
"Well, I think they're fantastic,” he says in an interview with Chile’s Radio Futuro, comparing the band to his own. “I love the fact that they've gone viral, because they're so unusual, peculiar, idiosyncratic. It's a sound that no one's heard before. They've taken Primus and a bit of Rush and all the complexities and sort of boiled it down to a two-piece band using an incredible array of technology."

Khn and Klek de Poitrine’s microtonal sound and remarkably enthusiastic playing style has hypnotized fans worldwide with their speedy passages and off-kilter time signatures. Lee says it's the most exciting new music he's heard.
"That's the most entertaining and exhilarating bits of music that I've heard for a long, long time,” Lee says. “And I think most people that hear them find it somehow infectious, and I don't mean that like it's poisonous. I mean good infectious."
Angine de Poitrine have spent the last year wowing audiences worldwide, touring the globe amid their viral rise and progressively scaling their performances. Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson appreciates their off-kilter musicality.
"There's something very hypnotic about their arrangements and how they write, how they present the music,” says Lifeson. “You know, using the looping pedals to create a bass line, and then guitar lines over it, and keep building on it. And above all, they're just great players. They really play their instruments so well, and that whole microtonal approach just makes it sound so exotic, and just mesmerizing."
Recently, Angine de Poitrine made a statement with their surprise set during Osheaga’s Saturday date, giving a whole new wave of music fans the chance to see the world’s hottest band live and getting over 50,000 people to make triangles with their hands and bop up and down in perfect sync. Their influence also transcends mere genres, with Deadmau5 recently highlighting Angine’s crossover potential with his original dance remix of “Fabienk."

Rush’s co-sign of Angine de Poitrine comes during the band’s own massive year amidst their reunion 10 years after their last tour following the death of drummer and lyricist Neil Peart. After recently playing four homecoming shows in Toronto at Scotiabank Arena, the band continues to celebrate their milestone 50th anniversary with its Fifty Something reunion tour, which returns to Canada in September for two nights at Montreal’s Centre Bell. They are currently on the cover of Rolling Stone Canada.
