Kid Cudi Reveals He and Ye Are Rebuilding Their Friendship & Sees Them Collaborating in the Future: ‘One Day Soon For Sure’
Cudi appeared to extend an olive branch to West when shouting him out on stage while on tour.

Kid Cudi’s friendship with Ye (formerly Kanye West) has seen the highest of highs and lowest of lows throughout the past two decades. Cudi provided a positive update on his status with West in an exchange with a fan on X over the weekend.
“Im sure we will yea,” he said about the idea of working with Ye in the future. “Right now were rebuilding our friendship.” Cudi continued to reveal they’ve since checked in on each other in recent weeks without talking about anything music-related.
“I hit him a week ago to check in on him, today he hit me to check on me. No work talk,” Cudi added. “Just seeing how I was doing. It was nice. And stream, who knows! One day soon for sure.”
The Ohio rapper appeared to extend an olive branch to Ye on his Rebel Ragers Tour, which saw Cudder close out his shows with the Kids See Ghosts standout “Reborn.” The track — which landed on Cudi and Ye’s collab album — reached the Billboard Hot 100’s top 40 in 2018.
“This one’s for Ye,” Cudi said to the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre audience in April. “We gotta sing this loud so Ye can hear you.”
Cudi and West met back in 2006 and Yeezy signed the then-upstart rapper to G.O.O.D. Music in 2008. In the years since, it’s been a rocky road when it comes to Ye and Cudi’s relationship. They appeared to turn a corner in early 2024, when Cudi revealed that Ye had given him a sincere apology.
However, speaking to CBS Mornings in August 2025, Cudi claimed their friendship would never be the same and he listed specific times he was heartbroken by Ye, including West’s comments about Virgil Abloh following the designer’s passing in 2021.
These days, it appears there’s a chance at reconciliation for one of hip-hop’s fruitful partnerships. In the past, they’ve teamed up for tracks including 808s & Heartbreak opener “Welcome to Heartbreak,” “Erase Me,” “Gorgeous,” “Make Her Say” and “Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 1.”
