While the rest of us have been just going on with our lives, Drake appears to still be harboring some ill feelings about Kanye West. The pair who’ve been embroiled in a mostly one-sided public feud for several years — including Drizzy’s use of a convo excerpt between Ye’s ex, Kim Kardashian, and her mom, Kris Jenner, about Kim’s divorce on his “Search & Rescue” single earlier this year — are once again in the spotlight thanks to the 6 God’s new single, “8AM in Charlotte.”

Not long after the track dropped on Thursday morning (Oct. 5), the speculation that it contains yet another Ye diss bubbled up on X (formerly Twitter), with fans, haters, lovers, hip-hop elders and casual observers specifically zeroing in on the lines “Handle beef so quiet you think that I’m letting it slide/ Next thing you now we tip-toeing past enemy lines/ Diss me so long ago we making your memories fly/ Conspiracy theories start flowing around like the Kennedy guy/ I’ll probably hold a grudge against you guys ’til I’m 75.”

And while Drake doesn’t ever specifically mention Ye in the song that features a dozen other obvious shouts to everyone from Michael Jackson to Shania Twain, 21 Savage, DJ Screw, megachurch preacher T.D. Jakes and conspiracy theory-embracing presidential candidate RFK Jr., sleuths also speculated that the bars continued the Ye pile-on Drake previously explored on such tracks as “No Sylist” and his verse on Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode.”

“Aye, n—as lying for a living, I couldn’t relate/ We all gotta lay in the bed we make, but that couldn’t be Drake/ You forced a lot of fake love when real ones stood in your face,” Drake raps on his latest timestamp song. “That’s why you got deserted by your n—as like pudding and cake/ I got you on camera bowing down but the footage is safe/ Thank God, another USB to put in the safe.

At press time, it did not appear as if West — who has kept a low profile for most of this year following the meltdown of his music and fashion empire last year in the wake of a string of antisemitic comments — had responded to the alleged Drake provocation.
