Doja Cat Calls Tyga a NSFW Body Part for Using AI on His ‘$tarface’ Album

Tyga has faced waves of criticism following his admission that he used AI on his new album $tarface, and Doja Cat piled on with a peculiar, NSFW insult.

Doja covered plenty of ground during her livestream on Wednesday (Aug. 12), including her comments about seeing her “Juicy” collaborator utilize AI as a tool on his ’80s-inspired album.

“Nobody asked me anything about Tyga, but I felt like saying this,” she began. “Tyga is a penis for making an AI album.”

Billboard has reached out to Tyga for comment.

T-Raww and Doja have proven to be dynamic collaborators in the past. Tyga jumped on Doja Cat’s “Juicy” remix in 2019, which was her first song on the Billboard Hot 100, and peaked at No. 41. They reunited for “Freaky Deaky” in 2022, which reached No. 43.

Tyga made a creative pivot with the disco pop-leaning $tarface, which introduced a brand new alter ego from the West Coast rapper.

In an interview with VIBE earlier in August, Tyga confirmed he used AI on the project to create “’80s synths” and a “guitar solo.”

“It’s supposed to give you an experience and a feeling. But we definitely used AI as a [tool],” he said, comparing AI to when AutoTune became prevalent in hip-hop. “And I know people are going to be mad about me saying this, but it’s where technology is going. It’s no different than when AutoTune came out. Some people were opposed to it, but real artists took it and used it.”

Tyga continued: “But as far as the writing, all the vocals are all me. There’s nothing wrong with using technology as a tool.”

The “Rack City” rapper isn’t the only hip-hop artist facing criticism for using AI. Shoreline Mafia’s Fenix Flexin ’80s-fueled hit “RUBBERZ” initially denied using AI, but admitted using the technology on the song in an Instagram comment.

“Never said I didn’t use AI, I said it had nun to do [with the] recording process,” he wrote. “I didn’t even know what da app was till we mixed it and [everybody] started commenting. Ain’t nothing wrong [with] using new technology as a tool. Keep up [with] the times or get left behind.
