‘Don’t Worry,’ Baby, Lady Gaga Hints at New Music on the Horizon

In a response to a fan comment, the new mom seemed to suggest that the wait for the first new music since Mayhem could be shorter than anticipated.

It’s only been a year since Lady Gaga dropped her sixth studio album, Mayhem. And though Little Monsters had to wait nearly five years between last March’s synth pop explosion and its predecessor, 2020’s Chromatica, in a recent TikTok video Mother Monster gave hope that something special could be on its way, and soon.

In a clip promoting her Haus Labs cosmetic brand’s new brush set on Monday (Oct. 19) — cued to Wham!’s “Last Christmas” — Gaga got busy showing off the various brushes when a fan hopped in the comments and made a desperate plea for fresh tracks.

“Gaga please don’t make us wait long for albums!!!,” the fan wrote. “We just want music!!! Every albums has been taking longer & longer.” Gaga was quick to respond with a two-word answer that set Monsters’ hair on fire: “don’t worry,” she wrote along with two heart emoji.

At press time a spokesperson for Gaga could not be reached for comment on when fans can expect new music from the singer.

In a chat with The Rolling Stone Studio podcast this week, Mayhem co-executive producer and co-songwriter said that he’s in touch with Gaga “all the time … whenever she sounds the bell, I’ll be there,” he said.

While at press time it was unclear when Gaga, 40, might return to the studio and what project she was hinting it, it’s likely she has her hands full with her newborn daughter, Rose Bean Polansky. Though Gaga has not spoken in public yet about the child she and fiancé Michael Polansky welcomed in June, Gaga was photographed with their newborn in Northern California last month.

The singer wrapped her global Mayhem Ball tour in April after hitting five continents and grossing nearly $420 million on its way to becoming one of the top 10 highest-grossing tours by a woman in Billboard Boxscore history.

After releasing the singles “Disease,” “Abracadabra” and “The Dead Dance” from Mayhem last year, Gaga teamed up with Doechii earlier this year for “Runway” from the soundtrack to The Devil Wears Prada 2.
