Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan are about to work out their expectations on the remix.

The two pop stars revealed Tuesday (Oct. 13) that the Midwest Princess will be jumping on a revamped version of “Expectations” from Rodrigo’s Billboard 200-topping third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. Both the song and an accompanying visual will drop Thursday (Oct. 15), two days after the “Drop Dead” singer teased the team-up by sharing an audio snippet of Roan’s voice saying, “Oh, Olivia does remixes now.”

Writing that she was “beyond excited” to share the news, Rodrigo also unveiled the “Expectations” remix’s cover art shot by Phoenix Johnson, showing the two pop stars posing on top of a retro convertible in Cyndi Lauper-esque 1980s outfits.

“Expectations” arrived alongside Rodrigo’s most recent LP in June, debuting at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. The two women have been friends for a long time, having both worked with producer Dan Nigro for years. In August, the “Good Luck, Babe!” artist played a set at Rodrigo’s inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival in Irvine, Calif., which raised $20 million for charities supporting women and girls.

In 2022, Roan opened a show on Rodrigo’s Sour Tour before serving as a supporting act on the Guts World Tour two years later. After Roan shot to global stardom later in 2024, she reunited with Rodrigo on the Guts trek to sing “Hot to Go!” in Los Angeles.

“She actually gives me so much advice on taking care of myself and being me in an industry that’s so overwhelming sometimes,” Rodrigo told Billboard of Roan in October 2024. “I really appreciate her.”
