Billboard Canada Women in Music is loading up with talent for the September 7 celebration in Toronto – and tickets are moving quickly. You can get yours here.

Guest of honour Alanis Morissette will appear at the event alongside other stars including Jessie Reyez, and they’ll be joined by some major live performances.

Charlotte Cardin, Jully Black, Rêve, Tia Wood, LU KALA and Haviah Mighty will all play at the event, which recognizes the inspiring powerhouse women of the Canadian music industry.

Cardin will take a rare break from her world tour during a breakthrough year with charting hits from “Confetti” to “99 Nights” and performances at the NBA All-Star game and for Justin Trudeau and Joe Biden. The Montreal singer will deliver a goosebumps-inducing piano-based performance for the occasion.

She’s not the only big performer coming to the party. Jully Black is planning a special cover for the event. The celebrated R&B/soul artist has been repping Canada for decades, and is now being embraced by new generations of fans.

Charlotte Cardin and Jully Black join legendary Canadian superstar Alanis Morissette, who will come to Toronto to accept the Icon Award at the first expansion of Billboard Women in Music to Canada. They will be celebrated alongside the previously-announced powerhouse group of honourees including Jessie Reyez, The Beaches, Allison Russell and LU KALA.

LU KALA will accept her Rising Star award at the ceremony, and she’ll also grace the stage for a performance of her empowering pop hits. Acclaimed Toronto hip-hop artist Haviah Mighty will co-host the Billboard Canada Women in Music event and also bring the energy in a performance of her own.

A pair of fast-rising pop singers will also get a spotlight. Juno-winning Montreal artist Rêve has hit the Billboard charts a number of times with her infectious dance-pop hits, and was also named Billboard’s Dance Artist of the Month. Soulful Plains Cree and Salish singer Tia Wood released her first single, “Dirt Roads,” just two months ago, but already has a dedicated audience of fans who’ve been following her on her popular TikTok account.

Awards

Cirkut Won Both Grammy & Juno Awards for Producer of the Year: Who Else Has Done That?

Just two other producers have doubled up — and just one other has done it in the same calendar year.

Cirkut is on a historic awards roll. On Feb. 1, he won the Grammy for producer of the year, non-classical. On March 28, he won the Juno Award in his native Canada in the same category (since 2002, the award has been named in honour of Jack Richardson, the late Canadian producer who is probably best known in the U.S. for helming The Guess Who’s 1970 smash “American Woman.”)

Cirkut (born Henry Russell Walter) is just the second producer to win both awards in the same calendar year. The first was David Foster, who took both awards in 1985, when his big credit was the hit-laden Chicago 17. One other producer, Daniel Lanois, has won both awards, but he has yet to win both in the same year.
