LISA Tears Up After Winning Best Pop Award at VMAs: ‘All Those Late-Night Dreams Brought Me Here’
"I wouldn't be here without you guys," the K-pop superstar told her fans in her acceptance speech.

LISA took home the evening’s first award during the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (Sept. 27). The BLACKPINK member’s “Dream,” featuring Kentaro Sakaguchi, won the Moon Person for best pop. Fans cheered their avid approval as LISA took the stage to accept the honor.
“Thank you, MTV, for this amazing award,” LISA said through tears, also thanking her collaborators on the song. “All those late-night dreams brought me here today, so thank you for the inspiration, especially to my Lilies — I wouldn’t be here without you guys.”
LISA was nominated for the honor alongside artists including Ariana Grande, Olivia Rodrigo, Charli XCX, and Taylor Swift.
LISA is also up for other accolades during the 2026 MTV VMA awards ceremony, including best K-pop, and best cinematography.
“Dream” was featured on LISA’s debut studio album, Alter Ego, which released in February 2025. “Dream” also reached No. 16 on the Japan Heatseekers Songs chart and No. 20 on the Japan Hot Shot Songs chart. “Dream” was accompanied by a short film starring LISA and Kentaro Sakaguchi. The film was directed by Ojun Kwon and premiered on Aug. 13, 2025.
In addition to her Alter Ego album, Lisa also released the EP Press Play in 2026. Other songs released from Alter Ego include “When I’m With You” (feat. Tyla), “Rapunzel” (feat. Megan Thee Stallion) and “Elastigirl.” LISA has previously won MTV VMA Awards including best K-pop for “Born Again” featuring Doja Cat and RAYE, in 2025, as well as wins in the same category for “Lalisa” and “Rockstar.”
