The Beaches Accept Women of the Year Award Presented by L’Oréal Paris at Billboard Canada Women in Music 2025
The members of the Toronto band made a special trip home from tour to accept the honour, and had some inspiring — and quoteworthy — words onstage and on the red carpet.

The Beaches were guests of honour at Billboard Canada Women in Music 2025, and, as always, they were the life of the party.
The Toronto quartet of sisters Jordan and Kylie Miller, Leandra Earl and Eliza Enman-McDaniel took home the Billboard Canada Women in Music award for Women of the Year. It marks the first time a band has been a recipient of the award, which was previously given to a single artist.
This year’s Women of the Year award was presented by L’Oréal Paris — one of the world’s leading cosmetic brands.
“Championing women's empowerment is at the core of everything we do. It was a natural fit for L’Oréal Paris to join this year's Billboard Canada Women in Music Awards to highlight Canadian talent and embrace music culture because we’re all worth it!” said Amelie Lafrance, Director of PR.

Before the group took the stage at Rebel Toronto, they were introduced by Virgin Radio and iHeartRadio Canada midday host — and close friend — Shannon Burns.
“If you’ve ever been to a Beaches show, you already know what makes them extraordinary. The moment they step on stage, the energy shifts,” she shared with the crowd. “You feel the confidence, the chaos, the fun and the fearlessness that comes from four women who have worked tirelessly over a decade to carve out their place in rock music.”
She detailed the group’s journey, from their formation as Done with Dolls to winning multiple Juno awards, headlining Osheaga and performing on late-night talk shows. Beyond their hits and viral moments, she said, is a safe space for women to be themselves.
“They continue to redefine what it means to be a woman in the music industry, leaving an impact that will shape any artists who follow,” Burns commented.

As The Beaches eagerly took the stage for their moment, they were in for a big surprise — a series of videos featuring some of today’s biggest stars congratulating the group on their win — including music icon Elton John, rapper Kid Cudi, Canadian band Arkells, rockers Greta Van Fleet and last year’s Woman of the Year, Charlotte Cardin.
“I hope this resonates to everybody in Canada that girl groups are really on the march,” John said of their win, while Cardin called herself a “forever fan” of the band.
As the well wishes played onscreen, their reactions got bigger, happily shocked by each one. Before their speech, frontwoman Jordan popped a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne to commemorate the band’s big moment. “We had no idea about that!” exclaimed Enman-McDaniel. “That video was f—g crazy!” Kylie said.
The Beaches are currently touring in support of their new Billboard-charting album, No Hard Feelings. While the ceremony fell between tour dates in New York and Michigan, the band made a special trip to their hometown to attend Billboard Canada Women in Music, and they made sure to make the most of it.
As Kylie took the mic, apologizing for “being the messiest people here,” but expressed immense gratitude for the award.

“Being able to share this award with my sisters means the absolute world — and speaks volumes to the hard work and dedication that we’ve put into this band for the past 13 years,” she shared. “For us, it’s always been about the music and having fun together. Our friendship and our sisterhood have gotten us through incredibly tough times, but we’ve come out only stronger.”
Yet, the younger Miller sister acknowledged that The Beaches’ rise was a collective effort, shouting out the important women in their lives, including their entirely female team, led by manager Laurie Lee Boutet, who was on stage earlier in the evening and presented the Champion Award to FACTOR CEO Meg Symsyk. “You all inspire us so much and bring so much joy, love and warmth into this project and this wouldn’t have been possible without you.”

The group wrapped up the final award speech of the night with a message to their fans and young girls looking to get their start in music — it’s always an uphill battle, but being able to connect with listeners and pave your own path on the way up has made the journey incredibly bittersweet.
It’s a similar sentiment the band shared on the red carpet. L’Oréal Paris’s iconic tagline is “because you’re worth it,” and The Beaches were asked what makes them feel worth it.
“I think just seeing the looks in young women and young queer people’s faces when we perform, and seeing how they can feel represented on our stage, that makes everything worth it for us,” expressed Enman-McDaniel. “It’s the most rewarding feeling.
“The respect and the friendship that I have for my bandmates makes me feel worth it,” added Jordan.
In true Beaches fashion, they left the stage with an important message from Earl, who inherited the Veuve bottle from Jordan. “To all the girls, we ride at dawn!” It elicited one of the biggest cheers of the night from the engaged crowd, filled with inspired and empowered women.
