Monster Truck: True Rocker

The Juno-winning hard rockers preview a new album with this righteously rockin' cut. Twisted Sister mainman Dee Snider guests and the result is pure no-BS fun that lives up to the title.

Monster Truck: True Rocker

By Kerry Doole

Monster Truck - "True Rocker (feat. Dee Snider)" (Dine Alone): Hamilton's hard rock heroes have just announced the release of a new album, True Rockers, set for release on Sept. 14  on Dine Alone Records in Canada and Mascot Records/Mascot Label Group in the rest of the world.

This is the second cut to be made available, and it comes with a formidable bonus in the presence of Twisted Sister mainman Dee Snider on guest vocals. With a title and a star like that, you would, of course, expect "True Rocker" to be nothing but unadulterated straight-ahead rock 'n roll, and you'd be right.

In a label press release, Monster Truck guitarist Jeremy Widerman describes the track (one that'll open the new album)  this way: “Gang vocals, guitar solos, giant rhythm section, church organ, riff mania….DEE SNIDER!" That just about covers it, and the result is a boisterous treat. "I know who I am," declare Snider and MT, and their commitment to no BS rock shines brightly. Lead vocalist/bassist Jon Harvey reassures his band's growing fanbase that "We want people to listen to this record and have as much fun as possible." That won't be hard.

On Saturday, MT played the Download Festival in England. They appear at Winnipeg’s Super Spike fest (July 21) and BC's Grizzfest  (Aug. 4), then play a European tour, Nov. 13-Dec. 3, followed by UK arena dates, Dec. 6-14. Relentless gigging across the pond in recent years has paid off big time for the band. Tour dates here
