CMW Indies Award Noms Open For Voting

Canadian Music Week has announced the nominees for the 2018 Indies - the 18th annual Independent Music Awards - presented by Jim Beam with Indie88.


Notables include two of Canada's fastest-rising stars, R&B artist Daniel Caesar and Jessie Reyez, Iskwe and Pierre Kwenders, while the veterans include Gord Downie, Matt Mays, Death From Above 1979 and The New Pornographers, with pals Broken Social Scene and Stars duking it out in the Group of the Year category.

Performers on the show include The Rural Alberta Advantage, Said the Whale, Sam Coffey and the Iron Lungs and the winner of the Jim Beam talent search.

The shindig shakes it up at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto on May 12. Public and industry votes decide the winners. To view the nominees and vote for your favourites, go here. The deadline to vote is May 1.

Michael Bublé is having himself a merry little Christmas at the top of the charts.

His 2011 Christmas album is back at No. 1 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart this week, climbing from No. 3. It marks that album's 15th cumulative week at the top of the chart — and it's also the only holiday music album in the top ten this week.
