Justin Bieber Extends Record After Fifth Best Male Pop Artist Win at American Music Awards 2026
The Canadian pop-R&B hitmaker previously took home the award in 2010, 2012, 2016 and 2020.

Justin Bieber continues to make history at the American Music Awards.
For the fifth time, the Canadian singer received the award for best male pop artist at last night's Las Vegas ceremony, extending his record for any artist being awarded in the same category.
Bieber initially won the award in 2010, under its previous category name: favourite pop/rock male artist. In the years following, he took home the award in 2012, 2016 and 2020.
It wasn’t the only trophy Bieber was up for at the awards show. He entered this year’s ceremony with four nominations, including best R&B album, artist of the year and album of the year for his chart-topping record, Swag.

Those awards went to hitmaker Bruno Mars’ The Romantic, K-pop boy band BTS and pop it-girl Sabrina Carpenter’s Man’s Best Friend, respectively.
Bieber’s record extension brings the singer to a total of 19 American Music Awards, tying him with the singer-songwriter Kenny Rogers for the second-most wins by a male artist. Still, the late Michael Jackson remains the top-awarded male artist with 24 trophies to his name.
Last night’s win follows a major few months for the superstar. After a stripped-back performance at this year's Grammy Awards in February, two months later, he performed back-to-back weekends at Coachella. It marked his first full-scale headlining show since 2022, when Bieber cancelled a string of tour dates to tend to his health struggles.
On the charts, Bieber made a massive comeback as multiple tracks and albums that span his entire discography reemerged on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 and the Billboard Canadian Albums chart.
While many tracks re-entered the charts, the Swag track “Everything Hallelujah” debuted at No. 89 on the Canadian Hot 100 following a viral TikTok trend that is still making the rounds on the social media platform. Meanwhile, the Nicki Minaj-featuring “Beauty And A Beat” reached No. 4, a peak that the 2012 song hadn't hit in almost 14 years.

Two weeks after his music festival stint, he returned to No. 1 as the most listened-to artist on Spotify, hitting 140 million monthly listeners. It marked his return to the top spot since 2021, when he reached a record-breaking 83 million listeners.
Bieber scored the only trophy for Canadian acts at the 2026 American Music Awards, which saw nominations for Tate McRae, Drake and The Weeknd.
