Stomp Records Celebrates Turning 30 Anniversary Shows Throughout Canada
The Montreal punk and ska-based indie label has put out nearly 300 releases over its three decades.

It is time to stomp, jump and party!
Survival for 30 years as an independent Canadian record label is a milestone worth celebrating and Montreal-based Stomp Records has just announced plans to do just that. Stomp is hosting anniversary shows in November and December in Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal, featuring some of the labels most prominent artists. Check the itinerary below.
Looking back on its 30 years, the punk and ska rooted Stomp can take pride in having nearly 300 releases distributed across more than 190 countries and building a roster that includes some artists who have gone on to major international success.

"30 years ago, Stomp Records kicked off in Montreal with a simple mission: to give Canada’s independent punk and ska bands a home, a voice, and a way to reach beyond their own city limits," writes a statement from the label. "It was an ambitious idea for a couple of musicians with no business plan and even less money, a plan that should’ve crashed harder than a tour van on bald tires in a prairie blizzard. Instead, it helped ignite a national movement and built one of Canada’s longest-running and most influential independent labels."
Stomp made a name in ska and punk in the '90s and 2000s with small scene compilation series like The All-Skanadian Club and by helping artists develop from the bar circuit to international festival stages.
Stomp co-founder Matt Collyer reflects that "This label is built on community, creativity, and helping each other get our shot. We’re still here because the fans show up, the bands work their asses off, and we love every minute of doing this.”
Bands signed to Stomp that have achieved national (and in many cases international) recognition include The Flatliners, Bedouin Soundclash, Wine Lips, The Dreadnoughts, The Anti-Queens, Brutal Youth, Raygun Cowboys, PKEW PKEW PKEW, Autogramm, Duotang and more.

Alumni of Stomp-signed bands have gone on to perform in Simple Plan, Walk Off The Earth, Kings of Leon, The Stills, Patrick Watson, Broken Social Scene and others.
“The odds were stacked against us from day one,” says long-time Stomp partner Mike Magee. “Luckily Stomp Records didn’t, and still doesn’t, give one single flying f— about the odds.”
