Charlotte Cardin Unveils New Album 'Midnight, Mon Amour' with English and French Versions of 'Memories'

Charlotte Cardin's new era is upon us.
Today (Oct. 13), the Quebec-born pop singer unveiled her third studio album Midnight, mon amour, out January 29, 2027, and its album cover on Instagram. The black-and-white artwork features a close-up of Cardin and a colour contrast that reflects the album's themes of tension and duality across topics like day and night, womanhood and the parts of oneself that are hidden from others. Digging into this idea of the hidden, Cardin calls the LP a "shadow album," one that explores shameful fantasies, private desires and the flaws that people withhold from the public.

"I really wanted to explore all of the inner duality that I’ve been feeling as a woman in the last few years and I wanted to use those oppositions and those contradictory feelings as something that’s empowering and liberating,” she says of the new LP.
Midnight, mon amour is accompanied by Cardin's recent single "Memories," a dance pop track backed by smooth horns and understated keys which released on Friday (Oct. 9) in English, and bilingually in English in French as "Memories (Souvenirs)." Further leaning into the concept of duality, the singer released different videos for each version of the track, writing online that she "needed to say it in both languages." Bilingualism is also featured in the forthcoming album's title, which translates to Midnight, my love.
“‘Memories’ is about the thoughts that are on loop for so long that they end up shifting,” Cardin says of the new single. “The more you think of something — especially when you're very implicated emotionally — the more your memories will shift, and your own emotions tint the memory.”
The Paris-based singer's announcement arrives on the heels of several summer festival performances across Europe and a string of singles over the past year that land among the album's 17 songs. The French-language "Tant pis pour elle" kicked off this new chapter last November and landed on the Billboard Canada Adult Contemporary (AC) Airplay chart, while her next single "The Way We Touch," her first English-language release in over two years, reached the top 50 of the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 upon release. "Take Me Back," a mellow dance-pop track featuring soft-spoken vocals, plucked guitars and jazzy melodies, was released in June and is also included on the new record.

Earlier this year, Cardin earned a groundbreaking win at the prestigious France awards ceremony Les victories de la musique, becoming the first Quebec female to take home female artist of the year since 2003. She's also participated in major moments back home in Canada, having served as a music ambassador for Boi-1da's Perfect Pitch program, which united music and sports during the 2026 FIFA World Cup co-hosted by Canada. Cardin also surprised The Beaches with the news that they would be honoured as Women of the Year at Billboard Canada Women in Music 2025, an honour she received the previous year during the inaugural Billboard Canada Women in Music, in 2024.
