Canadian Songwriters Earn Major Grammy Nominations for Beyoncé's 'Texas Hold 'Em' and 'Cowboy Carter'
Canadians Nate Ferraro, Lowell and Megan Bülow all picked up a nomination for their work writing the song, while Dave Hamelin garnered a nod for Album of the Year for producing Cowboy Carter. Kaytranada, The Weeknd, Spiritbox and Charlotte Day Wilson have all been nominated too.

Beyoncé is leading the 2025 Grammy nominations — along with her Canadian collaborators.
"Texas Hold 'Em," co-written by three Canadians, has been nominated for two of the biggest awards, Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
Writers Nathan Ferraro, Lowell, and Megan Bülow all picked up nominations for Song of the Year, which is awarded to the writers and composers behind the track, as well as Best Country Song. Ferraro talked with Billboard Canada earlier this year about his Canadian writing team, while Lowell won the inaugural Billboard Canada Non-Performing Songwriter Award this summer.
Beyoncé's country album Cowboy Carter is also nominated for Album of the Year with Canadian Dave Hamelin (formerly of Montreal indie rock band The Stills) named in the nomination for his work as a producer and songwriter across the album.

In total, Beyoncé picked up a whopping 11 nominations for her history-making Cowboy Carter, which features a slew of Canadian contributions.
The album, which made Beyoncé the first Black woman to lead Billboard's Country Albums chart, didn't receive any recognition at the Country Music Awards. But Cowboy is faring better with the Grammys, including a nomination for Best Country Album. With today's nominations, Beyoncé is now the most-nominated artist in history.
Montreal producer Kaytranada also did well in the nominations, picking up nominations for Best Dance/Electronic Recording for his Childish Gambino collab "Witchy," Best Dance/Electronic Album for Timeless, and Best Remixed Recording.
Canadian metal group Spiritbox received a nomination for Best Metal Performance for the second straight year, this time with "Cellar Door." The Weeknd notched a nod for Best Melodic Rap Performance for the Future and Metro Boomin collab "We Still Don't Trust You."
In the technical categories, Toronto R&B singer Charlotte Day Wilson was recognized for her album Cyan Blue with a Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical nod. Canadian super producer Shawn Everett also appears in the same category for work on Kacey Musgraves' Deeper Well.
