It’s a unique way for listeners to interact with Rodrigo’s album before its release — and the project has already gained notable buzz. When she announced it in April, Rodrigo shared that she’s “so proud of this record” and “can’t wait” for fans to hear it.
The album’s lead single, “Drop Dead,” already hit No. 1 on the May 2- dated Canadian Hot 100, marking Rodrigo’s fourth chart-topping track and third No. 1 lead single in Canada. It remained there for one week before being dethroned by Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas.”

Last month, the singer and actor did double-duty on Saturday Night Live as the host and musical guest. Rodrigo performed “Drop Dead” along with a melancholy unreleased ballad, “Begged.” Prior to the singer taking the stage, she shared on The Tonight Show that Jack White left a sweet note in her dressing room and called it her “good luck charm.”
Weeks later, she dropped “The Cure,” a moody track that builds into an angsty moment. Before its release, Rodrigo said that it was her “favourite song” on the entire album. The nearly five-minute track debuted at No. 7 on the June 6-dated Canadian Hot 100, which is still dominated by Drake.
Those are three of the 13 tracks on Rodrigo’s third album, which include titles like “Stupid Song” and “Maggots for Brains.”
