Drake Says a 'Bunch of Songs' From 'FOMO' Short Film Are Coming to Streaming Services This Week
Drizzy has previewed collaborations with PARTYNEXTDOOR and Don Toliver, along with a "Choosin' Texas" interpolation.
Drake is bringing the unreleased tracks played during his FOMO short filmto streaming services later this week. The 6 God revealed that a “bunch of songs” are coming to DSPs on Thursday (Oct. 1) during a Kick livestreamearly Tuesday (Sept. 29).
“Go watch FOMO. It’s a bunch of songs coming to streaming on Thursday,” Drake said. “So, all the songs that you guys have been asking [about]. Well, not all of them. Enough of them are coming on Thursday. That’s it.”
FOMO premiered on YouTube on Sept. 15 and saw Drizzy debut new visuals from his HABIBTI and MAID OF HONOUR albums along with plenty of new music. In all, the 6 God revealed about 10 unreleased tracks.
The fresh songs saw Drake bounce from R&B to rapping and even had some country mixed in. There’s an extended version of “Classic,” a bouncy remix of “Janice STFU” with OnlyHeaven and the “Miss My Dawg” collaboration with Yeat, which landed on the Portland rapper’s Cocoon EP.
What most OVO fans’ eyes will be on is whether the potential banger “Cold Shoulder” with Don Toliver hits streaming services, along with the woozy interpolation of Ella Langley’s record-breaking No. 1 smash “Choosin’ Texas,” which also features an assist from Toliver. Drake also previewed a reunion with PARTNYNEXTDOOR during FOMO.
Elsewhere in the stream, Drake played the odds and gambled via his partnership with Stake while rocking his original Cash Money Records chain.
“Birdman, platinum, Cash Money. What are you guys crazy? You think you guys can buy our artifacts like how we buy your artifacts? No, it’s in the family, dummy,” he said, while seemingly referencing him purchasing jewelry in the past from Pharrell and 2Pac.
It remains to be seen which tracks will end up on streaming come Thursday night. Drake is also gearing up to hit the road in support of his ICEMAN, HABIBTI and MAID OF HONOUR trifecta — which topped the top three slots of the Billboard 200 in May — next year.
