Justin Bieber Was Considered for 2027 Super Bowl Halftime Show, According to New Reports
According to reports from Puck News and TMZ, Jay-Z and Roc Nation considered both Bieber and Miley Cyrus for the viral performance slot, before reportedly settling on Jay-Z himself. Though it is not officially confirmed, that would mean Bieber was in consideration for another recent high-profile appearance alongside Coachella, the World Cup and the Grammys.

Justin Bieber may be a consideration for this year’s Super Bowl halftime show headliner.
Puck News and TMZ are reproting that Jay-Z and Roc Nation settled on choosing Jay-Z himself as the headliner for the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2027, a key development following months of ongoing speculation and deliberation on who will perform during the championship game.
The same report also states that Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus were both considered as headliners, but Jay-Z wound up feeling like a “more compelling” choice.
Justin Bieber has been having a viral year, gracing many of the world’s biggest stages over the past 12 months. After surprise-dropping his Swag and Swag II albums last summer, the Ontario native was locked in to headline Coachella, where he headlined both weekends of the festival in April 2026.
In addition to bringing out a long list of guests including Billie Eilish, SZA, Sexyy Red and The Kid LAROI, he made headlines for a segment in which he watched and sang along to his own YouTube videos live onstage. That nostalgic moment that sent tracks like “Beauty and a Beat” soaring up the charts immediately afterwards. The Nicki Minaj collaboration re-entered the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 top 20 after Coachella and went No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, while six of his albums appeared on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart simultaneously.
Bieber made an even bigger global move during the summer when he was added to the bill for the 2026 FIFA World Cup halftime show performance, the first-ever concert given during the global championship game. Joining Madonna, Shakira, Burna Boy and BTS, the Canadian singer gave a stripped-back rendition of his Swag II track “Everything Hallelujah.”
Miley Cyrus has also been having a highly-publicized year, kicking off a new musical career chapter after starting off 2026 by celebrating a milestone 20 years of her breakthrough role on Hannah Montana. She inked a new major label deal with Atlantic Records in July and followed it up with the snappy rollout and release of her tenth album Bass Persuades, which made a top 10 debut in Canada (No. 7). She’s also fresh off headlining two nights at the Hollywood Bowl, her first major headline shows in years during which she paid tribute to her ‘aunt’ Dolly Parton, debuted songs from the new record live and responded to fans’ criticism over her performance style.
Jay-Z and Roc Nation have been handling bookings for the halftime show since 2019 when the label and entertainment company partnered with the NFL as its live music entertainment strategist, a partnership that was renewed in 2024. While neither Roc Nation nor NFL has made an official announcement regarding the halftime show performer, a Jay-Z performance would add to an illustrious celebration year for the rapper, who has been commemorating the 30th anniversary of his debut album Reasonable Doubt with a number of global stadium shows featuring star guests like Eminem, Beyoncé and Rihanna, plus limited vinyl and merch drops, all part of his Jaÿ-Z30 campaign.
Jay-Z is set to bring his Jaÿ-Z30 tour to Los Angeles this week with two shows at SoFi Stadium on Oct. 23 and 24. The Super Bowl will be held at the same venue on Feb. 14, 2027.
