Finneas Covers Feist's 'My Moon My Man' Ahead of Her Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame Induction

Finneas is celebrating Feist's music with a new cover.

The American singer-songwriter teamed up with Amazon Music to release a special cover of Feist's hit 2007 track "My Moon My Man" as an Amazon Music Original. Listen here.

Finneas' rendition puts a spin on the original indie pop track, adding a poppier bounce while maintaining its original, urgent keys. His cover reflects Feist's influence on his own songwriting, bearing a striking resemblance to his work with his sister Billie Eilish on projects like Don't Smile at Me, with whom he frequently co-writes.

Finneas' admiration for Leslie Feist's songwriting runs deep, and he's set to present her one of the biggest musical honours in Canada on Saturday (Sept. 26), inducting her into the 2026 Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame during a gala at Toronto's Massey Hall. He has previously named Feist one of his favourite guitarists of all-time, and now he's set to honour her legacy and impact as a songwriter at the event by covering her music once more, performing alongside renowned singer-songwriter Jeff Tweedy of Wilco.

"My Moon My Man" is one of Feist's quintessential tracks, having reached the top 20 of the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 in 2007, peaking at No. 13. The track received a major boost late last year after being featured in the viral Crave-produced TV phenomenon Heated Rivalry, seeing a 1,500% increase in streams. The song currently boasts over 176 million plays on Spotify.

Feist's songwriting work spans across three decades, as both a solo artist and an on-and-off member of the indie supergroup Broken Social Scene, and she has notched major synch placements in beloved TV series like Grey's Anatomy. Along with "My Moon My Man," Feist's 2007 LP The Reminder spawned an even bigger single with "1234," which reached No. 3 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 and the top 10 in the U.S., peaking at No. 8.

This year, Feist is being inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame along with Roch Voisine, Mike Reno and Paul Dean of Loverboy and The Tragically Hip, joining a list of alumni that includes Bryan Adams, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young and many more. Along with Finneas and Tweedy, artists like Amanda Marshall and TALK will be celebrating music by Loverboy, while Our Lady Peace, City and Colour, Ruby Waters and Tia Wood are joining forces to honour The Tragically Hip with a star-studded tribute performance. The occasion aligns with the recent ten-year anniversary of the Canadian band's final concerts in Aug. 2016, and their greatest hits album Yer Favourites notching a milestone 400th week on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart, continuing its run as the seventh-longest-charting album ever in Canada.

Finneas recently made headlines for pulling out of Ed Sheeran's Loop tour in solidarity with Macklemore and in support of the Palestinian people, after aMacklemore was removed following his onstage comments in support of Palestine, as well as an ultimatum by Gillette Stadium owner Robert Kraft. Both concerts at Kraft's stadium have since been cancelled due to a severe weather warning for the East Coast of the U.S.
