Cardi B Says Constant Jealousy From People in Her Inner Circle Is Making Her ‘Colder & Meaner’

"You just don't know who's genuine anymore," the rapper said.

Cardi B is reaching her limit with people in her circle trying to bring her down while she’s up.

The rapper did an Instagram Live on Tuesday (Oct. 27), according to Complex, and went off about how jealousy has caused tension around her. “It’s because I’m at a new level in life,” she said in a screen recording of the livestream. “[But] I’m still just me.”

“Being successful, it is so scary,” the rapper continued. “Not even because you just don’t know who’s genuine anymore. You just don’t know who got that secret animosity for you. And it’s so crazy, because you could be cheering for somebody, you could be loving on somebody, and they don’t want that.”

Cardi noted that she feels like she can’t even discuss her accolades or business deals with certain individuals in her life for fear of stirring up resentment. “It is so sad that b—hes that you so f–king close with … will go out of their way to humble you,” she said

“And it’s so crazy because I don’t feel depressed. I don’t feel sad. I don’t feel nothing,” she added. “I’m starting to feel like I’m becoming an evil villain. I feel like I’m getting colder and meaner. This is what it means when they say it’s lonely at the top … I don’t want to see a therapist. I want these motherf–kers to die.”

The Grammy winner didn’t get any more specific than that, but she did make sure to clarify that the negativity she’s facing is coming from people she knows personally rather than the public. That said, Cardi did recently clap back at haters online who accused her of shortchanging other artists in her New York Times Style Magazine interview, in which she shouted out only a select few people when asked about her biggest inspirations.

“I don’t even give a f–k about these b—hes anymore,” said in an Oct. 21 chat on X Spaces. “To be honest with you, it’s like, I don’t even like beefing with rap b—hes anymore, because it’s kinda boring … I feel like I’m outgrowing a lot of s–t.”

Fans will have to wait and see if Cardi elaborates on either subject in future music releases, as the hip-hop star is just over a year out from the release of her Billboard 200-topping sophomore album, Am I the Drama? Her most recent singles are “AH HA,” which arrived in August, and “Don’t Chart,” which she dropped for Grand Theft Auto VI earlier in October.
