Mustafa's Dunya has been celebrated as one of the most acclaimed albums of 2024, and he's using that momentum to launch his first world tour.

The Toronto-born singer-songwriter and poet will embark on the tour in February 2025, going to 19 cities in Canada, the United States and Europe, plus dates in Ethiopia and Sudan.

Mustafa made worldwide headlines with his acclaimed pair of Artists for Aid concerts this year for Gaza and Sudan, which featured artists like Clairo, Stormzy, Ramy Youssef and Daniel Caesar. His final concert in Sudan should be a special and personal one for the singer.

His lone Canadian date is in Montreal at Le National on February 27.

To celebrate the announcement, Mustafa has released a new live video featuring hushed renditions of three Dunya songs: “What good is a heart?,” “Leaving Toronto” and “I’ll Go Anywhere.” It features collaborators including Kibrom Birhane on masenqo and krar and the aforementioned Daniel Caesar a fellow Canadian singer who had a big year, on vocals. His recent collaborations with Tyler, The Creator on Chromakopia earned him some of his highest charting songs.

Mustafa and Caesar are longtime collaborators, and their voices come together beautifully on songs like "Leaving Toronto."

Tickets for Mustafa's tour go on sale this Friday, December 13th at 10 am local time at Mustafa's website.

Obituaries: Peers Pay Tribute to Canadian Folk Great David Wiffen

This week we also acknowledge the passing of controversial hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa, U.S. guitar ace Wayne Perkins and Hamilton musician and author Douglas Carter.

David George Wiffen, an Ottawa-based folk singer-songwriter revered by his peers and best known for his classic tune "Driving Wheel," died on April 5, at age 84.

A Globe and Mail obituary reports that "Wiffen was born in 1942, in Redhill, Surrey, a market town south of London. He first arrived in Canada as a 16-year-old with his family when his father, an engineer, was transferred to Toronto. Wiffen returned to England but eventually doubled back to Canada to stay."
