CARAS/Juno Awards Appoints Jordan Evans to Its Board of Directors
The Billboard Canada Manager of the Year 2026 award winner, best known for co-managing R&B star Daniel Caesar, has been involved in multiple aspects of the industry over the last decade from management, to record labels to music production.

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) has a new guiding voice.
CARAS has appointed Jordan Evans to its board of directors. Evans is known for his work as longtime co-manager and artistic collaborator of global R&B sensation Daniel Caesar. This year, he earned the Billboard Canada Manager of the Year award alongside co-manager Matthew Burnett. Evans is also a prolific producer, credited on works by major artists including Drake, Eminem, John Legend, Jay-Z and more.
Evans has founded S&R Management and co-founded the music label Golden Child Recordings with Burnett, and also briefly managed Canadian singer-songwriter Charlotte Day Wilson, who was recently nominated for the Polaris Song Prize.

Evans joins fellow Canadian music personnel on the board of the not-for-profit organization, which aims to celebrate Canadian music and fuel its growth and most notably administers The Juno Awards.
He joins a roster that features several important executives in Canadian music, including Wednesday Management founder Laurie Lee Boutet (Billboard Canada Manager of the Year 2025), Warner Music Canada co-general manager Madelaine Napoleone, Sony Music Entertainment Canada president Shane Carter, MLSE vp of marketing, Adam Burchill and more.

Prior to an official role, Evans has crossed paths with CARAS through Caesar, the winner of multiple Juno Awards. The Son of Spergy singer brought both his managers onstage upon winning the Juno for best R&B/soul recording at the 2018 edition of the CARAS-produced ceremony, and he received the international achievement award this year, which celebrates "exemplary success on the world stage" by a Canadian artist.

Evans and Burnett stumbled into their industry roles, learning the ropes as they grew their own DIY careers and that of Daniel Caesar. As he recounts in his Billboard Canada Manager of the Year interview, they quickly learned how to manage merchandise sales, distribute music and handle finances, with Evans managing Caesar's royalty account during his early career.
"That's what it takes when you're building any business from the ground up," he says. "I feel really grateful for building our careers down an independent path because it exposed us to so many different parts of the business."
Now, he brings that expertise and perspective to CARAS and The Junos, as the organization continues to modernize in order to reflect how Canadian music is made and consumed.
Since celebrating its 50th anniversary last year, CARAS continues to build on its mission. This year's Juno Awards provided a financial boost to Hamilton's economy, generating a record $17.2 million local impact, the most for any host city in the awards show's history. This month, the CARAS-associated charity MusiCounts also made a record-breaking donation of $1.4 million to fund music education programs in 96 schools across Canada.
