Back in the 2000s, PEI indie rockers Two Hours Traffic made quite a splash, making the Polaris Prize shortlist, placing songs on major TV shows like The Office and The O.C. and touring the country. After going into hiatus in 2013, they started slowly working together again in 2018, leading to the release of their new EP, I Never See You Anymore, out this week and their first new work since 2013 album, Foolish Blood.
They play four shows in Ontarioat the end of this month, beginning at The Rivoli in Toronto, on May 28.
After paying dues in such noted Vancouver bands as Happyman and Brilliant Orange, Graham Brown has emerged as a roots-rock singer-songwriter and guitarist of real skill and a prolific output. His new album, Outside Within, is the 14th released under his own name, and after an acoustic detour, he is back in full electric mode with his seasoned band.
Also serving up new work this week are award-winning Métis singer-songwriter Amanda Rheaume with The Truth We Hold, David Celia, with a vinyl version of earlier album Organica, roots troubadours Gordie Tentrees and Jaxon Haldane, with their debut studio collaboration, Double Take, Logan Richard, making his debut on Outside Music with Character Traits, Toronto musician, producer and astrologer Victoria Cheong, aka New Chance, with A Rock Unsteady, Juno-nominated pop artist Ryland James, with Heart Of Me, Montreal post-rock outfit L.O.E (Last of Eden), with I Was Not Magnificent, and Montreal pop artist Flara K, with her debut, Seasons.
Singer-songwriter Cassia Hardy alsowithher solo debut, In Relation. When we wrote about her for Fresh Sounds Canada, we said that the album "promises more open-hearted, incisive dispatches" and it delivers.
Toronto artist Omega Mighty has announced her new album, REGENESIS, out this fall. She's dropped the first single "Cock Up," which features dancehall legend Pamputtae and is produced by charting Canadian production team Banx & Ranx. Mighty combines reggae, dancehall, pop and R&B, and says she aims to bring Caribbean influenced music further into the Canadian mainstream. Other notable artists announcing new release dates include hard rock veterans Sven Gali, with Live At The El Mocambo, coming June 13.Montreal rock favourites No Joy, With Bugland (Aug. 8) and Aiko Tomi, with Everything Sparks Joy, on June 20.
