It's a brand new month, and we're back with our calendar of new and upcoming Canadian albums.
A very busy week for new Canadian album releases also includes offerings from global roots artist Lenka Lichtenberg, Toronto instrumental band The Henrys, the new Montreal composing trio of Sarah Neufeld / Richard Reed Parry / Rebecca Foon, Hamilton blues veteran Alfie Smith, Vancouver sonic adventurers Astrocolor and large Toronto jazz ensemble Carn Davidson 9. One notable new album announcement is that singer-songwriter Gus Englehorn will release his next full-length, The Hornbook, on Jan. 25, on Secret City.
There is plenty of interest in Camelot, the new album from eloquent Toronto singer-songwriter, Jennifer Castle, a longtime critical favourite. Check out an advance track here. Serving up a keenly-anticipated sophomore album today is OMBIIGIZI, the Polaris Prize shortlisted duo of Daniel Monkman and Adam Sturgeon. The two Anishinaabe artists are at the forefront of the exciting Indigenous shoegaze sound also delivered by their other projects (Zoon for Monkman, Status/Non-Status for Sturgeon). Here is a brand new track from the album.

Album of the Week: Jeremie Albino, Our Time In The Sun
Toronto soul/roots singer-songwriter Jeremie Albino received critical kudos for three earlier albums, and he could be poised for a breakthrough with his new full-length, Our Time In The Sun, out today (Nov. 1). He has a notable champion in the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach. After stumbling across his music by accident, Auerbach signed Albino to his Easy Eye Sound label, and has gone one step beyond by producing this album and playing on it. Hotshot Nashville songwriter-musicians Pat McLaughlin, Joe Allen and Bobby Wood also contribute.
Albino delivers some of his strongest work yet, with his soul vocals and sharply poignant songwriting to the fore — evident on the powerful ballad title track. A compelling performer, Albino will be touring the new album extensively. It is indeed his time to shine.
