Daniel Caesar has secured his third top 10 album.
The Toronto R&B singer-songwriter’s new album, Son of Spergy, debuts at No. 8 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart dated Nov. 8. It's even higher in the U.S., where Caesar is now based, coming in at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 this week.
In his Billboard and Billboard Canada cover story, he shared that the album had been in the works for two years, prior to its October 2025 release. It's filled with introspection, nostalgia and a reckoning with his religious upbringing.
“It’s about religion, but more importantly, it’s about my father,” he said of the album, whose title references his father's nickname. “In your childhood, your father is a lot like God. He’s the person you fear the most on earth and also the person whose love and respect you desire more than anyone else on earth. It’s the source from where all your blessings come.”

Born from studio sessions in Jamaica, Paris and New York, Son of Spergy showcases a diverse pool of collaborators, including Mustafa, Sampha, Clairo, Blood Orange, Bon Iver, Yebba and more.
It follows the release of 2023’s Never Enough and 2019’s CASE STUDY 01, which peaked at No. 8 and No. 6 on Canadian Albums. Of the new release, Caesar said he’s in a purer place: older and wiser, seeking his early innocence yet ready to move forward.
“I feel like we’re picking up where we left off,” he said before Son of Spergy’s release. “I almost feel like I’m starting again — and I love it.”
Listeners are loving it, too. Two tracks off the album hit the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, including “Who Knows” at No. 74 and “Root Of All Evil” at No. 87.
It's been a fruitful few months for Caesar. A few weeks ago, two albums from his back catalogue, Freudian and Never Enough, re-entered the Canadian Albums chart after his pop-up shows across North America.

Also on the Canadian Hot 100, Karan Aujla has charted again. The Punjabi-Canadian artist’s track “Boyfriend” arrives at No. 80. It’s on his record-breaking album P-Pop Culture, which debuted at No. 3 on the Canadian Albums chart. Aujla’s LP hit over 12 million streams on release day, marking the highest debut for a Punjabi-language album in Canadian history.
Akin to his other hits, “Boyfriend” balances pop melodies drenched in love and nostalgia with hip-hop swagger, along with production from frequent collaborator Ikky. Aujla performed the track in a mashup with “MF Gabhru!” when he became the first-ever Canadian-Punjabi artist to play Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show back in September.
“Boyfriend” joins Aujla’s other Canadian Hot 100 entry, “For A Reason,” which drops 80-95.
Elsewhere on the chart, two Canadian artists are hitting a stride.
Toronto-born R&B artist Chris Grey’s track “Let The World Burn" (Hoodtrap / Mylancore Remix) featuring R3BEL and Kryd, debuts at No. 75. The original version, released in 2024, was a viral hit and earned Grey a spot on the Spotify Global Impact list. The new remix adds even more epic texture to the cinematic track, adding heavy layers of distortion and noise.
