Music NewsSpotify’s 2026 Global Songs of Summer Predictions
Drake's 'Janice STFU' and Cameron Whitcomb 'Kingdom of Fear' Make Spotify's Predictions for 2026 Song of the Summer
Global editors at the streaming giant have revealed their 30 picks for the tracks they think will dominate for listeners during the hot weather.

Spotify is making its predictions for this year's song of summer.
The streaming service dropped its picks and predictions today (May 29), and it's a lengthy list at 30 tracks, spanning genres and artists from rap to pop to country.
Of the predictions, two Canadian artists made the cut — Drake and Cameron Whitcomb.
Hot on the heels of his multiple victories and record-breaking moments on the Canadian charts, Drake’s “Janice STFU” earns a spot on Spotify’s unranked list. The Toronto-born rapper's latest No. 1 is a no-brainer. Throughout Toronto, it's already streaming out of car windows, restaurants and even NBA Finals locker rooms.

The dark and moody Iceman track — which interpolates Lykke Li’s “I Follow Rivers — secured Drake his 14th chart-topping hit in Canada, breaking him out of a tie with fellow Canadian Justin Bieber and pop star Taylor Swift.
Spotify also predicts Cameron Whitcomb is set to put Canada’s west coast on the streaming map this summer with “Kingdom of Fear.” It’s one of the latest offerings from the B.C. native’s Deep Waters EP, which debuted at No. 88 on the Canadian Albums chart, dated May 2.
In his home country, “Kingdom of Fear” is already a radio hit and has landed on multiple Billboard Canada Airplay charts. The track leans into the rising country singer's essential vulnerability, as he details his experience maintaining sobriety and avoiding falling back into past addictions.
Its release came days before Whitcomb’s two wins at the Juno Awards in March where he took home country album of the year for 2025’s The Hard Way and won breakthrough artist or group of the year at the broadcast ceremony held at Hamilton’s TD Coliseum.
Spotify’s global editors have also tapped a couple of tracks that have topped the Canadian Hot 100. Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” spent multiple weeks at No. 1 after a six-month climb to the top, skyrocketing the country singer into superstar status. Last month, Olivia Rodrigo secured the top spot for her track “Drop Dead,” the first taste of the pop singer’s forthcoming album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, out next month.

Noah Kahan makes the predictions list, with “Doors,” one of the charting hits from his No. 1 album, The Great Divide, his second chart-topping record in Canada.
The streaming platform is leaning into “sadboy summer,” selecting tracks like Dominic Fike’s “Babydoll” and Malcolm Todd’s two-year-old “Earrings,” which peaked at No. 10 and No. 26 on the Canadian Hot 100, respectively. After a viral TikTok moment, “Freakin’ Out” by Dexter and the Moonrocks hits the list, previously peaking at No. 35 on the chart.
Pop girls are having a moment in the heat, too, as Zara Larsson’s electric “Midnight Sun” lands on the list, alongside former collaborator PinkPantheress with “Girl Like Me.” Slayyyter’s “Dance…,” makes an appearance, while “New Religion” by Bebe Rexha and Faithless snags a spot. Only released today, Ariana Grande’s “Hate That I Made You Love Me” makes the cut.

From Ghana to Colombia, global dance hits are set to make waves this summer. Standout tracks include Dope Nation’s celebratory “Kakalika,” which fuses Ghanaian azonto with South African amapiano and "Chévere" by Aria Vega and Ryan Castro, a high-energy hit that brings Caribbean and Latin afrobeats to listeners.
