Backstreet Boys
Five years after their last shows in Canada, the ‘90s boy band will reportedly play their only North American stadium shows on Feb. 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26 and 27.
Backstreet's back in Canada.
Backstreet Boys, one of the biggest boy bands of the ‘90s and 2000s, will come to Toronto for an eight-night residency at Rogers Centre in 2027 on Feb. 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 26 and 27.
Into the Millennium – Homecoming: Live in Canada will see the five members — Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson — celebrating the global breakthrough album 1999’s Millennium, along with a series of their greatest hits, like “I Want It That Way” and “Larger Than Life.”
Millennium was the group’s third No.1 album in Canada, following Backstreet Boys, which spent one week at the top, and Backstreet’s Back, which earned four weeks at No. 1, both in 1997. Millennium stayed at No. 1 for five weeks, the band’s longest-running No. 1 in Canada. It was followed by 2000’s Black & Blue, which spent two weeks atop the chart.
In the late ‘90s, the Backstreet Boys frequently toured Canada, initially performing at Place Vertu in Montreal on a promo tour. Their fanbase continued to grow, with the band playing small clubs and venues across the country, before the major show at Toronto’s SkyDome — now known as Rogers Centre — in 1998. Nearly three decades later, they’ll be returning to the venue.
“Canada was one of the first places to embrace us, and the love and support we’ve received from our fans there has meant so much from the very beginning,” says Littrell. “Coming back feels incredibly special. It is a chance for all of us to celebrate the memories we’ve made together and create some new ones.”
The shows, a partnership between Rogers and Live Nation, will reportedly be the band’s only North American stadium shows in 2027. The group previously performed in Canada in 2022, playing shows across Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Quebec City and Montreal.
The band announced the 2027 residency on Instagram, with a short clip of the band in their Millennium ensembles. “Guys, are we really doing this again?” asks Littrell. “Our ride’s here, fellas,” responds Richardson, before the group boards a plane with a red maple leaf.
“Canada has always held a special place in the Backstreet Boys story. Very early on in our careers you welcomed us, believed in us, and showed up for us in a way that we’ve never forgotten,” they write in the caption.
To celebrate the Toronto residency, the band will host a fan pop-up in Toronto inspired by the Millennium album’s airport cover. It will feature official band merchandise, exclusive collectibles, photo opportunities and unique fan activations throughout the six-day residency. A date has yet to be announced.
The Toronto concert series will follow the band’s already-announced five-night residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas later this year, and their 10-show stadium shows in Düsseldorf, Germany, which kicked off last week.
