Between July 31 and Aug. 2, numerous indie vinyl stores across the country will treat fans to a listening session for the singer's upcoming album, whose release coincides with her Eternal Sunshine tour shows in Montreal.
A big week is on the horizon for Ariana Grande's Canadian fans, and another surprise has been revealed.
As the release of her upcoming eighth studio album 'petal' approaches on July 31, the chart-topping singer has unveiled a series of listening experiences for her new album which will be held at local record stores worldwide, and fans from all over Canada are getting the opportunity to attend.
Grande has tapped 16 indie record stores across 13 Canadian cities to host the special experience, which will take place between July 31 and Aug. 2 in Alberta (Edmonton), British Columbia (Surrey, Vancouver), Manitoba (Winnipeg), Nova Scotia (Bedford, Halifax), Ontario (Kingston, Ottawa, Toronto, Vaughan) Quebec (Longueuil, Montreal, Rimouski).
While the date and time vary per store, attendees will receive official merch, with door prizes, contests, a grand prize and more available on site, according to Toronto's Kops Records and Longueuil's Le Noise, both participating stores.
The release event is the latest of several surprises for Grande's Canadian fanbase. Last year, she unveiled her first trek in seven years, the Eternal Sunshine tour, with three lone Canadian stops at Montreal's Centre Bell on July 28, 30 and 31 that immediately sold out and cemented the tour as one of the biggest concerts coming to Canada this year.
After initially telling Billboard that no new music would be coming before May, Grande suddenly announced a whole new album in April titled Petal, with a release date of July 31, the same day as her final Montreal concert. As fans continue to speculate whether or not she will treat them to the new record live on release day, the album's lead single "Hate That I Made You Love Me," has been faring well in the top 10 of the Canadian Hot 100. Released at the end of May, it currently sits at No. 9 after initially debuting at No. 3 in Canada and entering atop the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
As the Eternal Sunshine tour gets closer to Canada, the singer has been progressively dropping hints and tidbits about the new record. Last month, she began teasing song titles from the album one-by-one in Los Angeles before unveiling the full tracklist a week later. This past week, she premiered a new Hollywood-style trailer for the title track "Petals" during her Brooklyn shows, which features a flower growing from concrete on a Walk of Fame star, mirroring the album's meaning of “growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging.”
Grande plays three shows at Boston's TD Garden this week before making her grand return to the Canadian stage next week on July 28, for the first time since 2019. As fans await to see what surprises are in store for each Montreal show, they're already set to culminate in the release of Petal next Friday, July 31.
