In celebration of their return, the K-Pop boy band secures 13 entries on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100. Plus, Luke Combs emerges with his latest project, The Way I Am, hitting No. 2 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart.
BTS are returning to the Canadian charts in a major way.
The K-pop boy band’s comeback album, ARIRANG, debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart, dated April 4. It marks the group’s first full-length project since 2020’s chart-topping album BE — proving the group’s chart dominance even after being out of the spotlight.
For fans of the Bangtan Boys, a new record from the mega-popular band was uncertain. At the height of their fame, the seven members enlisted in the South Korean military to fulfill mandatory service requirements in 2022. While solo releases from group members were staggered, it would be four years before the entire group reunited.
After the last of the members were discharged, the group almost immediately got back in the studio. In a GQ cover story ahead of ARIRANG’s release, member Suga promised the album would feature a “diversity of genres,” while RM called it “truly the whole package.”
Featuring 14 tracks with production from Diplo, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, Mike WiLL Made-It and Ryan Tedder, the LP showcases RM, Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook in a more mature, artistically refined light than ever before. It's also already broken multiple Spotify records.
The album was preceded by 13 charted tracks on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, 12 of which reached the top 50: “Swim” (No. 5), “Body To Body” (No. 20), “Hooligan” (No. 32), “Normal” (No. 33), “FYA” (No. 34), “Aliens” (No. 37), “Like Animals” (No. 38), “2.0” (No. 41), “Merry Go Round” (No. 43), “They Don't Know 'bout Us” (No. 45), “One More Night” (No. 48) and “Please” (No. 49).
ARIRANG follows the group’s previous No. 1, 2022’s PROOF. Their other releases to hit No. 1 include: MAP OF THE SOUL : 7 (2020), MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA (2019) and Love Yourself: Answer (2018).
In support of their newest record, BTS will embark on a massive global trek, including two sold-out nights at Toronto’s Rogers Stadium in August.
Unable to push past the power of K-pop stans, country star Luke Combs debuts at No. 2 with his new album, The Way I Am, collecting his fifth top 10 project in Canada. It’s a follow-up to 2024’s Fathers & Sons, which peaked at No. 4 on the Canadian Albums chart.
The project showcases the artist’s anthemic voice and thoughtful storytelling through 22 songs that balance vulnerability with high-energy moments. On The Way I Am, Combs dives deep into the behind-the-scenes of his career, unveiling the challenges of balancing family and work, experiences with self-doubt and self-belief and the clarity that comes from focusing on what matters.
On the Canadian Hot 100, Combs’ latest release scores eight entries, three more than in his home country: “Sleepless In A Hotel Room” rises 20-17, “Be By You” climbs seven spots to No. 23, while “Days Like These” hits a new peak at No. 31, rising from No. 42, and “I Ain’t No Cowboy” moves up to No. 72 in its highest charting spot.
Plus, “Rethink Some Things” arrives at No. 39, “Alcohol of Fame” debuts at No. 84, “Wish Upon A Whisky” hits No. 88 and “Soon As I Get Home” rounds out his tracks at No. 99.
This summer, Combs is set to kick off stadium show season, playing Montreal’s Parc Jean-Drapeau and Toronto’s Rogers Stadium for back-to-back nights.
Elsewhere, Punjabi film Dhurandhar: The Revenge is making waves in Canada.
The action-adventure movie features “Jaiye Sajana,” from Indian-American singer Jasmine Sandlas and Punjabi artist Satinder Sartaaj, which arrives at No. 58 on the Canadian Hot 100. It seems Canadians are tuning into the full soundtrack, as Dhurandhar: The Revenge hits No. 66 on the Canadian Albums chart.
Other notable debuts include U.K. singer RAYE and composer Hans Zimmer’s “Click Clack Symphony,” which arrives at No. 79 on the Canadian Hot 100 and One Direction alum Niall Horan’s “Dinner Party” sets the tables at No. 89.
At the top, Olivia Dean’s catchy hit “Man I Need” continues its No. 1 reign for the fourth week in a row.
