Here is this week's Nielsen Market Watch report which features Canadian music stats for the current week and YTD with comparisons to last year. This chart is published every Tuesday. The abbreviation "TEA" is a term used to describe the sale of music downloads or singles. A track equivalent album is equal to 10 tracks, or 10 songs.
After completing 16 nights in the City of Love — her first full-length concerts in six years — the Canadian hitmaker was praised by some of today’s biggest acts.
Céline Dion is receiving praise from some of her musical peers.
Last weekend, the acclaimed Canadian singer wrapped her first run of 16 shows in Paris. It’s a major comeback for Dion, who revealed her Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis in 2022, and took a break from touring to focus on her health.
Now, some of her Canadian musical contemporaries are praising Dion for her accomplishment through a recent Apple Music radio special.
Canadian superstar Michael Bublé shared his first meeting with Dion, shared that he was only 22 years old. “I was backstage, very nervous at the theatre, and even though you didn’t know me, you still held my hand and comforted me,” he said.
“You’re everything that we hoped you would be: kind, generous, and you bring so much light. Not only are you the greatest voice ever but one of the most beautiful people, and as a fellow artist and fellow Canadian, well, I don’t think there are enough words to tell you how much I love you. I’m so happy that you continue to shine the light and inspire.”
Shania Twain, who attended one of Dion’s shows in Paris, shared a message about how “moving” it was to see the songstress back on stage. “The audience was so attentive and she just had us all in the palm of her hand, as she always does. Only Céline could face the challenges that she’s facing and show extraordinary courage,” an unknowing shoutout to Dion’s 2019 track.
“She’s a true athlete, a genius and one of my greatest heroes. We are just so happy that you’re back out on stage again, Céline,” she continued. “The whole has been waiting for you. We all know this is where your heart is on the stage with your fans.”
Producer David Foster called Dion his favourite singer. “I think Céline is really at the top of my list, selfishly, because when I’m in the studio with her all those years when I was in the studio with her, she would always do exactly what I was imagining that I wanted.”
Foster and Dion have worked on many tracks together, including “The Power of Love,” “All by Myself” and “Because You Loved Me,” among others. The pair won a Grammy for their work of Dion’s 1996 album Falling into You, which Foster served as a producer on. One year later, Foster and Walter A produced “Tell Him,” a duet with icon Barbra Streisand for their respective albums, Higher Ground and Let's Talk About Love, both released in 1997.
Streisand left a note for Dion too. “I’m so happy that you’re feeling better and that you’ve decided to return to the concert stage in the magnificent city of light,” she said. “Your love of music is deeply felt by your many fans and I’m one of them.”
She went on to share her favourite song of Dion’s, citing their collaboration. “It was so much fun singing with you. It was fun going for all those high notes. And you know what? I think we sound pretty darn good together. [I’m] wishing you great success with your shows. And of course, continued good health.”
Dion’s comeback shows marked her first full-length performances in six years. The excitement has built momentum on Spotify, with hits like “On ne change pas” and “Pour que tu m’aimes encore” seeing major streaming gains in her home country.
“Thank you Paris for welcoming me back. I’ll be holding onto these moments for a long time,” Dion wrote on Instagram after the final 2026 show concluded on Oct. 17. In May 2027, she’ll return to Paris to play 10 more shows.
