Jade LeMac
The rising Warner Music Canada singer-songwriter hits the Hot AC chart this week. Canadian artists Tedy and Boy Golden also have new chart debuts on the Airplay charts.
Jade LeMac is running home.
The Vancouver singer-songwriter’s hit “Running Home” is debuting on the Billboard Canada Hot AC Airplay chart at No. 39, dated October 11.
It’s a refreshing pop track with an infectious hook. LeMac’s earnest songwriting on love digs into the feeling of security in a relationship — an ever-relatable experience.
LeMac shares that the song is about “reassuring the person you are in a relationship with that you will always choose them, no matter how they might feel.”
“Running Home” serves as the lead single on LeMac’s upcoming EP, It’s Always At Night, which will come out Nov. 7. The project dives into themes of love and self-discovery, as LeMac unveils herself to listeners and empowers herself through vulnerability. “There are songs for so many emotions — heartbreak, desire, love and lust,” she says. “Each song is its own story about the different ways I’ve felt while being in love with someone.”
LeMac has been having a good year. In March, the singer signed a deal with Warner Music Canada and East West Records, and her debut single, “Constellations,” peaked at No. 36 on CHR/Top 40 that same month, before it went gold in July. In the summer, she performed at major music festivals, including Osheaga and Lollapalooza, opening for Modern Rock chart-topper Role Model at his Lolla afterparty. This fall, she’s set to open for Grammy-winning singer Maren Morris’ North American shows, but will embark on a cross-country headlining tour early next year.
We caught up with her for a Billboard Backstage interview at Osheaga in Montreal this summer.
Another Canadian artist is scoring a debut. Winnipeg native Boy Golden hits Modern Rock at No. 36 with “Suffer.”
The track is a cowbell-ladened rock and roll number, with lyrics exploring the Buddhist philosophy that the one thing that unifies everyone is our human capacity to suffer.
“I write songs to seek understanding. Suffering, the first of the Four Noble Truths, is universal. It takes different shapes and forms and magnitudes, but the pain of change, the pain of mortality, the pain of living in bodies we did not choose, is shared,” the artist born Liam Duncan said.
“The song came when my ideals were being tested and shattered by the world as it is now, he continued. “I hope that anyone listening to this song can come to the same conclusion that I did: if we only have this moment, what you do in this moment is who you are.”
It's the first taste of Boy Golden's debut album, Best of Our Possible Lives, out in Feburary 2026.
This week, a handful of Canadian artists are entering the airplay charts. After already charting on the CHR/Top 40 chart, Montreal singer Tedy hits AC with “I Hope” at No. 28, and after debuting on Hot AC, Jamie Fine’s “homesick” arrives on CHR/Top 40 at No. 34.
On the Country chart, “Going Somewhere” from Tim Hicks enters at No. 54 with Hunter Brothers & Shantaia’s “Better Days” debuts four spots down at No. 58.
The top is staying still this week. Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” continues his No. 1 streak on All-Format, AC and Hot AC, while Canadian pop star Justin Bieber sits at the top for a third week on CHR/Top 40 with “Daisies.”
On Country, Scotty McCreery & Hootie & The Blowfish’s “Bottle Rockets” earns a second week at No. 1, while Mainstream Rock mainstays, Three Day Grace, hold down the top spot with “Apologies" and and Role Model’s “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out” tops the Modern Rock chart for the sixth week — following his jam-packed show at All Things Go’s inaugural Toronto edition.
