Here is this week's Nielsen Marketwatch report which features Canadian music stats for the current week and YTD with comparisons to last year. This chart is published every Tuesday. The abbreviation "TEA" is a term used to describe the sale of music downloads or singles. A track equivalent album is equal to 10 tracks, or 10 songs.
Madonna
The Queen of Pop earns her ninth No. 1 Canadian album. Plus, Tame Impala and Jennie rise to No. 2 on the Canadian Hot 100 with "Dracula," and Sombr's "Homewrecker" becomes his highest-charting hit in Canada.
The Queen of Pop is back on top.
Madonna takes the top spot on this week's Billboard Canadian Albums chart, dated July 18, with Confessions II, which debuts at No. 1. The sequel to her 2005 LP Confessions on a Dance Floor becomes her ninth No. 1 album in Canada and her first chart-topping effort in over ten years. Rebel Heart debuted atop the chart back in 2015, becoming her eighth.
The pop music legend's 15th album is a return to the dance and club sounds that defined its predecessor, which was also a big chart success and spawned the smash ABBA-sampling single "Hung Up." With this sequel album, she still holds the fourth most No. 1s on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart out of any artist and is now just one album away from tying Kanye West and Justin Bieber for third place, with ten chart-toppers each. (Drake holds the record for most No. 1s, passing Celine Dion and Taylor Swift this year with ICEMAN).
Confessions II also lands two entries on this week's Canadian Hot 100. The disco-infused house cut "Danceteria" debuts at No. 93 and the Sabrina Carpenter-assisted "Bring Your Love" re-enters at No. 86. The duet was previewed during Carpenter's blockbuster headline set at Coachella Weekend 2, where she bridged previous and present pop stardom by inviting Madonna onstage for a surprise appearance to perform "Vogue," plus their new collaboration, which later entered the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 at No. 51.
Over on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, things are bubbling up with a potential new No. 1 on the horizon. While Ella Langley's mainstay "Choosin' Texas" logs a tenth non-consecutive week at No. 1, Tame Impala and JENNIE inch even closer to the top spot with their ominous nu-disco cut "Dracula." The track creeps up to No. 2 after peaking at No. 3 last week, the highest chart spot for either artist. After debuting at No. 68 in Oct. 2025 and becoming the first charting entry for Tame Impala as a lead artist, the song has steadily climbed the charts, slowly transforming into a massive hit.
Sombr hits a new high on the Canadian charts as "Homewrecker" reaches No. 6 on the Canadian Hot 100 and becomes his highest-charting single ever in Canada. Last week, the indie-pop song tied his breakthrough single "Back to Friends" at No. 9, reaching its then-highest peak while becoming his second-ever top ten on the Canadian Hot 100.
Rounding out the top 10, Stella Lefty's TikTok-fuelled hit "Boston" notches a second consecutive week at No. 10, and her EP is reaping the benefits on the Canadian Albums chart. Is This Heaven? jumps almost ten spots to enter the top 20, earning a new peak of No. 16 after charting at No. 25 last week.
