Here is this week's Luminate Data Market Watch report which features Canadian music stats for the current week and YTD with comparisons to last year. This chart is published every Tuesday. Disco Lines and Tinashe
Ed Sheeran is also making a splash in Canada, while Canadian country singer Dallas Smith squeaks onto the chart with a new debut.
Disco Lines and Tinashe are dancing their way up the charts in Canada.
The DJ-producer and R&B singer’s track “No Broke Boys” peaks at No. 17 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, dated August 23. In the duo’s home country, it sits at No. 55 on the U.S. Hot 100. On both charts, the song marks Disco Lines' first and Tinashe's sixth entry to the respective rankings.
“No Broke Boys” was originally a single from Tinashe’s 2024 album, Quantum Baby. The remixed version of the tune — released in early June — has gained major traction on TikTok, with over 200,000 videos using the song. On Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, the song is currently at No. 1.
The dance track boasts female empowerment and self-worth in the context of romantic relationships. “I'm out here single/and I need somethin' real/Now I got standards, give a f–k how you feel,” sings Tinashe, who doesn’t waste time on anyone who can’t match her energy (or her wallet).
Tinashe is no stranger to social media virality — her track, “Nasty,” was massive on TikTok last year, peaking at No. 61 on the Canadian Hot 100.
International artists are gaining a foothold on the Canadian charts, in many cases higher than in their home countries.
“Bowery” from Zach Bryan and Kings of Leon debuts at No. 54 on the Canadian Hot 100, 27 spots higher than on the U.S. Hot 100. Bailey Zimmerman and The Kid LAROI’s “Lost” arrives at No. 60, behind its No. 86 placement in the U.S.
Marshmello and Jelly Roll’s “Holy Water” arrives at No. 81 before even hitting the U.S. Hot 100.
Ed Sheeran, meanwhile, is a hit on the Canadian charts.
The British star has three songs on the Canadian Hot 100, none of which are charting in the U.S. counterpart. "Azizam" is spending its 19th week on the chart, now at No. 28, while "Sapphire" drops to No. 63 and "A Little More" at No. 79. All three songs come from Sheeran's upcoming album Play, which comes out September 12.
There's just one new chart debut from a Canadian artist this week.
Ahead of country star Dallas Smith’s 51-date Canadian tour (a dig at Donald Trump's "51st state" threats) this fall, his team-up with American country singer Alexandra Kay, “How Do You Miss Me,” debuts at No. 100 on the chart. The song is picking up steam on country radio. On last week’s Billboard Canada Country Airplay chart, it peaked at No. 6, and sits at No. 16 on Canada All-Format.
When it comes to other Canadian artists on the chart, Justin Bieber has four songs on the chart, with "Daisies" remaining into the top three after dropping 2-3. Drake has three songs on the chart, with the highest spot belonging to his Central Cee collaboration "Which One" at No. 34.
Currently on the Canadian leg of her Miss Possessive world tour, Tate McRae climbs 23-20 with “Sports Car” and “Just Keep Watching,” off the F1 soundtrack, rises 38-37. "What I Want," her all-star collaboration with country star Morgan Wallen, climbs back into the top five at No. 5.
At the top of the Canadian Hot 100, Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” coasts for 19th week at No. 1, while “Golden,” from the KPop Demon Hunters, maintains its No. 2 placement.
On the Billboard Canadian Albums chart, the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack knocks Morgan Wallen’s I’m The Problem out of the top spot and into No. 2. Alex Warren’s You'll Be Alright, Kid rises 4-3, switching with Justin Bieber’s Swag.
