Here is this week's Luminate Data Market Watch report which features Canadian music stats for the current week and YTD with comparisons to last year. This chart is published every Tuesday. The abbreviation "TEA" is a term used to describe the sale of music downloads or singles. A track equivalent album is equal to 10 tracks, or 10 songs.
Homegrown acts are making debuts on the Canadian Airplay charts, with Valley, Pelch, Mae Martin and Tebey all hitting the charts.
Singer Tia Wood has notched a new entry on the Canada All-Format radio airplay chart this week.
On the chart dated February 22, the singer, who hails from Saddle Lake Cree Nation on Treaty 6 territory, arrives with "Sky High" at No. 47. The cool R&B track is a showcase for Wood's sultry vocal, which impressed the crowd at Billboard Canada Women in Music last fall.
The L.A.-based singer just picked up a Juno nomination for contemporary Indigenous artist and a spot on Amazon Music Canada's Artists to Watch 2025. Wood has been building momentum, and could be on her way to more chart success.
Also debuting on the All-Format chart is Pelch with "Last Night," an anthemic folk track propelled by whistling, acoustic guitar and mild nostalgia.
In June 2024, the young Canadian singer-songwriter was named an iHeartRadio Future Star, and he's set to release a new album this year. That could establish him as a burgeoning belter alongside the likes of Noah Kahan, Cameron Whitcomb and Alex Warren, who are all having major success on the Canadian charts.
On the genre Airplay charts, there are plenty more Canadian debuts this week. The Weeknd's "Cry For Me" enters the Hot AC chart at No. 40 and Tate McRae's "Sports Car" arrives there at No. 30. "Cry For Me" also enters at No. 25 on the CHR/Top 40 chart.
Canadian country singers Tebey and Tenille Arts join forces on "Hangover At My Place," which enters Canada Country at No. 59. On the Mainstream Rock chart, Valley show up with their "Bass Player's Brother" at No. 37.
On Modern Rock, meanwhile, comedian and podcaster Mae Martin has hit the charts with the enticing "Good Dream" at No. 39. The England-based Canadian artist's debut music album I'm A TV will be out next week (Feb. 27) on Universal Music Canada, and is produced by Toronto pop-rock duo The Darcys. Martin's foray into songwriting is already earning some radio airplay and earns them a chart placement this week.
At the top of the Airplay charts, there's not much movement. Myles Smith's "Stargazing" rules the All-Format and AC Airplay charts. ROSE and Bruno Mars are steady atop the CHR chart with "APT." Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars' "Die With a Smile" knocks Smith out of No. 1 on the Hot AC chart and Post Malone and Luke Bryan hold fast with "Guy For That" atop the Country chart.
Canadian rockers Three Days Grace remain at No. 1 on Mainstream Rock with "Mayday," and Hozier's anti-war anthem "Nobody's Soldier" moves up 2-1 on Modern Rock.
