Tia Wood to be Honoured With the Trailblazer Award at Billboard Canada Women In Music 2026
The Cree and Salish R&B/pop singer has been making strides on the charts and on big stages while proudly uplifting her Indigenous identity and culture. She will accept the honour during the star-studded gala at Rebel in Toronto on Nov. 24.

Hailing from Saddle Lake Cree Nation in Alberta, the R&B/pop singer has been making major strides. After making history in 2023, as the first Indigenous woman signed to Sony Music Entertainment, she delivered a star-making performance at the inaugural Billboard Canada Women In Music event in 2024, and she's gone on to reach even bigger stages since.
The Cree and Salish singer proudly wears her culture on her sleeve while creating an inclusive environment on any stage she graces. She made her Osheaga festival debut in Montreal this year, where she shared the stage with fellow Indigenous drag queens and wore clothes designed by Indigenous designers.

In 2025, she took the stage with Shawn Mendes in Vancouver to perform a new version of "Youth," paying tribute to murdered and missing Indigenous girls and women. She also invited the singer to Saddle Lake Cree Nation where she introduced him to her culture and shared her personal history through different rites and traditions. The pair sat in ceremony and ate moose stew, and Wood showed Mendes the residential school where her parents were sent.
Wood's music has earned nationwide recognition, including a coveted nomination for the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame's breakthrough songwriter award this year and a spot on Billboard Canada's Artists to Watch 2026 list. She's also earned multiple entries on the Billboard Canada Airplay charts.
Tia Wood's boundary-pushing success will be recognized at Billboard Canada Women In Music, during a prestigious celebration hosted by Leandra Earl and Kylie Miller of The Beaches. Cardi B will accept Billboard Canada's Global Woman of the Year award, honoured alongside Global Visionary Summer Walker, Global Hitmaker Bebe Rexha, Rising Star Chxrry, Executive of the Year Melissa Bubb-Clarke of Live Nation Canada and Impact Award winner Kristy Fletcher of MusiCounts/The Juno Awards.
