Taylor Swift’s ‘Patient Zero’ Ends Ella Langley’s ‘Choosin’ Texas’ Reign on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100
The pop superstar's newest single dethrones the chart-topping country hit, which spent 21 weeks at the top — tying Alex Warren's "Ordinary" for the second most weeks at No. 1.

Taylor Swift has unseated Ella Langley from No. 1 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 — a mere few weeks before the country singer was slated to make chart history.
Following the release of The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, Swift scores her 15th No. 1 song on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 with “Patient Zero,” on the chart dated Oct. 10. It’s a major milestone in the U.S. too, with Swift securing her 16th No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
In both countries, “Patient Zero,” dethrones Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” from the No. 1 spot, as it falls to No. 2. On the Canadian Hot 100, the country hit spent 21 weeks at the top, tied with Alex Warren's "Ordinary" for the second-longest running No. 1 in Canada.

The longest-leading No. 1 single in Canada is Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which spent 25 weeks at No. 1. The record is non-consecutive, so Langley still has a chance to beat the record if she reclaims the No. 1 spot and bumps Swift out.
Dethroning Langley isn’t Swift’s only Canadian Hot 100 feat. In June, Swift tied Drake for the most No. 1 hits on the Canadian Hot 100, with her Toy Story 5 hit “I Knew It, I Knew You,” and his latest No. 1, “Janice STFU.” Since then, Swift’s track has become a top 10 mainstay, but drops from No. 4 to No. 9 this week. It takes the spot of “Janice,” which falls to No. 14. With “Patient Zero,” Swift reaches 15 No. 1 hits, surpassing Drizzy.
While “Patient Zero” tops the charts, the other three Encore tracks have also landed in the top 5 with “Babylon” at No. 3, “Cleveland!” at No. 4 and “Pink Clouding” at No. 5.
Multiple tracks from the standard version of Showgirl have also re-entered the Canadian Hot 100, including: “Father Figure” (No. 62), “Ruin the Friendship” (No. 76) and “The Life of a Showgirl” featuring Sabrina Carpenter at No. 79, which features the crowd from Swift’s final Eras Tour show in Vancouver back in December 2024. Meanwhile, “Wi$h Li$t” re-emerges at No. 83, followed by “Actually Romantic” (No. 85), “Eldest Daughter” (No. 91), “Cancelled!” (No. 96) and “Wood” rounds out the chart at No. 100.

The four additional Encore tracks have led The Life of a Showgirl to reclaim the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart, where it officially spends its 13th non-consecutive week at the top. It’s Swift’s 15th No. 1 album in Canada, following 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department, which climbs from No. 39 to No. 30 this week. A few of Swift’s other albums have stayed on the charts, including Folklore, which rises from 53-48. 2019’s Lover sits at No. 86, and 2022’s Midnights re-enters the chart at No. 91.
Karan Aujla Debuts in the Top 10 of the Billboard Canadian Albums Chart
Karan Aujla earns his latest top 10 entry on the Canadian Albums chart with his new EP, Aujla Szn 1. Debuting at No. 7, it’s the Punjabi-Canadian superstar’s latest entry on the chart, following his record-breaking album P-Pop Culture in 2025.

Primarily produced by one of Aujla’s frequent collaborators Mxrci, the project features five hard-hitting hip-hop-leaning tracks. All the tracks land on this week’s Canadian Hot 100 in the top 40, including: “Ashke” (No. 13), “Aujla Szn” (No. 27), “Straight Up” (No. 28), “Real Bad Man” (No. 36) and “Rap Killa” featuring Azaad 4L at No. 38. It’s only been a few weeks since Aujla’s last entry with the official release of his leaked track “Low Fade.”
Montreal Composer Jean-Michel Blais Lands An Entry on Canadian Albums
Further down on the Canadian Albums chart, Montreal composer and pianist Jean-Michel Blais debuts at No. 66 with his fourth studio album, Mirador. On the project, he swaps his minimalist soundscapes for maximalism with multiple tracks featuring a heavy strings section and a choir. Describing the album, Blais shares that he tried to channel the joy and naivety of his childhood in Nicolet, Quebec.

“[It was] a time where everything could emerge from almost nothing, where our family basement became a refuge, a safe space from which I could escape and travel through worlds and stories inspired by the books, cassette tapes, and VHS tapes scattered around it,” he writes on Instagram.
