Playboi Carti No Longer Opening for The Weeknd in Vancouver, Edmonton
Live Nation British Columbia cites "border crossing issues" for the rapper's removal in a statement released ahead of the first Vancouver show tonight (July 15).

It looks like Playboi Carti fans in Canada will have to wait a little longer to see him live.
Live Nation British Columbia released a statement on its Instagram Stories this morning (July 15) confirming that the Atlanta rapper will no longer be opening for the Vancouver and Edmonton shows on The Weeknd's After Hours Til Dawn tour "due to border crossing issues." The promoter apologized for any inconvenience.
The announcement comes just hours before the first show at Vancouver's BC Place tonight (July 15), with a second date at the stadium on July 16. The Edmonton concert will be at Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday (July 19).

According to Live Nation B.C., the shows will still start on time with Mike Dean opening at 7 pm.
Fans began speculating about the rapper's removal after the Ticketmaster listing for the Vancouver shows was updated late last night, only listing Mike Dean as a supporting act.
This isn't the first time Playboi Carti has had issues with crossing the Canadian border. The Vancouver and Toronto stops on his King Vamp Tour in 2021 were both ultimately cancelled, and he was replaced by 50 Cent for his headlining set at Metro Metro festival in Montreal in 2022. His subsequent Antagonist tour in 2023 (which was ultimately scrapped) notably had no Canadian dates.
So Carti's removal from the After Hours Til Dawn tour dates wasn't unpredictable, but disappointing for some fans regardless.
"I mean when I bought my tickets I was fully expecting this but it’s disappointing they didn’t plan for another opener," a fan said on Reddit.
As of this writing, Playboi Carti is still listed on Ticketmaster for the Weeknd's shows at Montreal's Parc Jean Drapeau on July 24-25 and Toronto's Rogers Centre on July 27-28 and August 7-8.
