Looking Ahead: A Release Calendar of New & Upcoming Canadian Albums In 2026
A regularly updating list of new and upcoming albums from Canadian artists. Keep checking back as artists announce new releases.

Canadian artists have moved into 2026 with some big releases on the horizon.
Some have begun their album cycles, others have confirmed release dates and some have just teased that their records will be out this year. It has been a growing industry trend for major name artists to put out new music with little or even no advance notice, so coming out with a definitive and iron-clad release schedule is an ongoing process. That's why we will now be updating this calendar throughout the year. Check back each week to see the new additions.
Here is our current list of upcoming albums with some of the most highly anticipated singled out. Here, in chronological order, are our Billboard Canada picks, followed by the full calendar of new and upcoming Canadian releases.

Albums to Look Forward to In 2026
Carly Rae Jepsen, Day and Night (Interscope) — Sept. 18.
Canadian pop favourite Carly Rae Jepsen is returning with a new album, and she is promising double the fun. Her eighth studio album, Day and Night is actually a double album that hits the streets on Sept. 18, via Interscope Records. It comprises 24 tracks, 12 on each side, each with its own personality. Day is described as “organic and raw, with live instrumentation and hints of Seventies-inspired psychedelic pop,” while Night “is exploratory and intense, shifting into a sleek, synth-driven world of dance pop.”
The album features multiple collaborators who have also been part of Jepsen's earlier success. That list includes Tavish Crowe, who co-wrote her global smash hit ''Call Me Maybe''; Kyle Shearer, who worked on ''Julien, '' ''Psychedelic Switch'' and more; Nate Cyphert, who produced The Loneliest Time and other songs; and producer Cole M.G.N., who co-wrote and co-produced ''So Right'' and married Jepsen in 2025. The couple welcomed their first child in March. Day and Night is Jepsen's first release since her 2023 B-sides collection, The Loveliest Time. The new album's lead single, ''On Wires,'' came out on June 26. The dynamic cut shifts in tone and scope to compelling effect.

Daphni - Butterfly (Expanded Edition) -Jiaolong - Sept. 25
Internationally-renowned and prolific electronica artist Dan Snaith (aka Daphni, Caribou) released his latest album as Daphni, Butterfly, back in Feb. It garnered a positive response and a longlist placing for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize, encouraging Snaith to return with an expanded edition. That announcement came on Sept. 4, with Sept. 25 as the album release date. The expanded edition pairs the original album with a second disc of 13 tracks: seven new Daphni productions, led by the focus track "Catch 23"; remixes by Kelbin, Aasthma, Peder Mannerfelt and BRUX; and extended and beatless mixes of "Sad Piano House."
Snaith says of the expanded edition: "Even as I was finishing up the final master of Butterfly, I was making lots more music to play out that felt like it lived in the same world and was in the same vein. And so adding them to an expanded version made a lot of sense." Also, the remixes on this expanded version all came out of nice personal connections. There's the Kelbin remix that is sort of a companion to his Cloudy remix from the previous Daphni album. The only time that I really think about commissioning remixes, is when there's a nice personal connection between someone whose music I admire and the music that I've made."

Bruce Cockburn, The Blood of Others (Sunset Boulevard Records) — Oct. 16
Over a career spanning over five decades and producing 39 albums, folk-rock singer-songwriter Bruce Cockburn has earned a justified international reputation as one of Canada’s most eloquent songsmiths and accomplished musicians. For his upcoming album The Blood of Others, Cockburn takes a fascinating trek back to his musically formative years with a collection of songs written by others, all of which had an impact upon the young artist emerging on the folk club scene in the ‘60s.

He explains the album this way: ‘’What began back in the eighties as a vague notion grew over time into a strong desire to put together a collection of material, written by others, that I found sticking to the edges of my musical landscape. The accumulation of these songs started in the sixties, before I'd even begun to try to create my own."
The tunes come from the worlds of gospel, jazz, folk, blues, ragtime and more and the eclectic collection includes Canadiana classic ‘’Four Strong Winds’’ and Elvis Presley’s "That's Alright." Cockburn is in the midst of a North American tour that includes mid-October concerts in Kitchener, Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal. Check the itinerary here.
Nickelback, Everything Under The Sun (Virgin Music Group) — Oct. 30
The masters of heartland meat and potatoes rock are back. On July 14, Nickelback announced Oct. 30 as the scheduled release date of their keenly-awaited new (and 11th) studio album, Everything Under The Sun. It has been a while since we've heard new music from the pride of Hanna, Alberta, as their previous album, Get Rollin', came out in 2022. It was accompanied by a world tour described as the highest-attended tour of their career, and this momentum continued with the release of a popular documentary on the band, Hate to Love: Nickelback. Earlier this year, the band's 2023 rock anthem ''Bones for the Crows'' gained new life and another chart topper on the Billboard Canada Airplay charts after being chosen as the theme song for Wrestlemania 42.

According to frontman Chad Kroeger, the new album's title reflects its variety. "This album has every side of the band on it. There are songs that hit as hard as anything we've ever done, songs that take chances, and songs that remind us why we've been doing this together for so long." Released along with the album announcement, ''Rattle The Cage'' is Nickelback at their big and beefy best, with pummelling riffs and huge hooks driving this call to action. The cut features hard rock guitar ace John 5 (Marilyn Manson, Motley Crue, Rod Zombie).
Of note: 2026 marks the 25th anniversary of the group's breakthrough third album, Silver Side Up, one including the mega-hit “How You Remind Me,” named the most-played song on U.S. radio (in any format) in the 2000s. In all, the rockers have sold over 50 million albums worldwide, with multiple Top 10 hits, four Grammy nominations and 12 Juno Awards. Everything Under The Sun has the potential to be the biggest rock record of the fall.
