Canadian R&B Singer Roy Woods Hits the Billboard Canada Airplay Charts With ‘Beautiful’
The singer on Drake's OVO Sound label breaks through with the dark and moody track from his album X. Plus: Nickelback scores their second No. 1 song of the year on Mainstream Rock with “Rattle the Cage," featuring John 5.

Roy Woods is finding the beauty in things.
The Brampton-born artist arrives on the Billboard Canada Contemporary Hit Radio/Top 40 Airplay chart at No. 28 with “Beautiful,” dated Oct. 17.
It’s the latest single from the OVO Sound act that leans into his quintessentially dark, atmospheric R&B sound. The track is balanced out by Woods’ heartfelt lyrics, as he reassures a partner of her inner and outer worth, emphasizing that she doesn't need makeup or filters: “Must not know you're beautiful / Wish you could see with my eyes,” he sings.
Produced by Woods and U.S. hip-hop producer Mally Mall, the track is part of a larger narrative on his newest album, X, which charts the lifespan of a relationship, from the highs of intense obsession to the lows of walking away. “Beautiful” leans into the latter emotion, effortlessly blending smooth production with unconditional adoration for a lover.

X is the latest project from the artist following a series of EPs, including Dark Nights which spawned a short film that premiered at NXNE 2025.
Woods is the second artist on Drake's OVO Sound label to chart on the CHR/Top 40 chart this week, joining Naomi Sharon, who climbs 24-22 with “Was It Ever Love.”
Nickelback Notches A New No. 1 on Mainstream Rock
For the second time, Nickelback has hit No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart in 2026. In its 13th week on the chart, the Canadian rockers climb from No. 3 to No. 1 with “Rattle The Cage,” featuring U.S. guitarist John 5, who has played amongst David Lee Roth and Rob Zombie and has served as the touring guitarist for Mötley Crüe since 2022.
The track dethrones fellow Canadian rock band Three Days Grace’s “Don't Wanna Go Home Tonight,” which drops to No. 2.
“Rattle the Cage” serves as the lead single from the band’s forthcoming album, Everything Under the Sun, out Oct. 30. Nickelback leader Chad Kroeger says the track “felt like the perfect way to kick the door open,” describing that “it has the energy we’ve been feeding off every night on stage.”

The song recently hit No. 1 on the Sept. 26-dated U.S. Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, marking the group’s first chart-topping hit in over a decade. Meanwhile, it’s their second No. 1 in Canada this year, following their WrestleMania hit “Bones for the Crows,” which reached the top back in April.
Sofia Camara Isn’t “Hallucinating” With Her Latest Airplay Chart Hit
A few spots down on CHR/Top 40, rising pop act Sofia Camara arrives at No. 32 with “Hallucinating,” the latest offering from her new EP, Still Somewhere Here, which dropped on Oct. 9.
It’s a bright and playful track from the Canadian pop artist, capturing the dizzying rush of realizing that someone you thought was completely out of reach might actually feel the same way. Camara takes a unique perspective on the song, writing from the point of view of someone who she says, “once felt invisible to her.”
The track was written by Camara and acclaimed songwriters Mike Wise, Lowell and Nate Ferraro — the trio who worked on the majority of Camara’s recent music, including her hit “Girls Like You,” which landed on multiple charts in 2025. Lowell and Ferraro are also known as part of the hit songwriting group behind Beyoncé's "Texas Hold 'Em."

Devon Cole, Owen Riegling and The Royal Foundry Among This Week’s Canadian Debuts
Devon Cole is collecting her fair share of Airplay chart entries as “Serial Kisser” makes its No. 48 debut on All-Format. This week, it rises 29-23 on CHR/Top 40, and 28-27 on Hot Adult Contemporary.
The same goes for Owen Riegling’s “Me Without My Hometown,” which debuts at No. 50 on All-Format. It joins the Ontario country act’s entry on the Canada Country chart, where it sits at No. 31. It lands one spot below Riegling’s other entry, “Love Hate Love,” which drops 27-30. Fellow Country act Josh Ross lands at No. 41 with “Drink Things Through.”

On the Adult Contemporary chart, LØLØ’s “The Punisher” earns its fourth Airplay chart entry, debuting at No. 29. It rises 45-42 on All-Format, climbs 23-21 on CHR/Top 40 and moves up three spots from No. 24 to No. 21 on Hot AC.
PINEO & LOEB & JRDN’s supercollab “Spin” arrives one spot below at No. 30. On Mainstream Rock, Stuck On Planet Earth’s “Sun Gazing” debuts at No. 39, and alt-pop group The Royal Foundry debuts at No. 40 with “WOW” on Modern Rock.
Zara Larsson’s “Midnight Sun” Keeps Summer Alive
Cameron Whitcomb’s “Kingdom of Fear” spends its second week at No. 1 on All-Format, continuing the Canadian singer-songwriter’s chart hot streak.
While the seasons have transitioned to fall, Zara Larsson keeps the summer vibes going with “Midnight Sun” climbing from No. 4 to No. 1 on AC, and rising 3-2 on CHR/Top 40, sitting below Ariana Grande’s “Hate That I Made You Love Me.” The Swedish breakthrough pop star sits at No. 2 on Hot AC, while Tame Impala and JENNIE’s red-hot hit “Dracula” holds down another week at No. 1.
On Country, Lainey Wilson and John Mayer’s collab “Phone, Keys, Wallet” jumps two spots to No. 1, dethroning Stella Lefty’s “Boston,” which falls to No. 6. Meanwhile, Cage the Elephant retains the No. 1 spot in its 13th week on the Modern Rock chart.
