A new chapter is underway for Jamie Fine.

The Ottawa singer is about to put out her first release as a newly independent artist. Fine has partnered with ADA, Warner Music Group's independent label and artist services arm, for a new deal. She'll release her first single with the new deal, "Wait For Forever," this Friday (June 6).

The emotional pop track is a sincere ode to devotion and dedication within a romantic relationship, which reflects the singer's recent engagement to her fiancée. In the song, Fine heavily explores the idea of what "forever" could mean, even if it means letting go.

“The concept of forever has always been overwhelming to me, not always understanding how one person could be your “forever” when we’re constantly growing and changing; learning new things and meeting new people," she explains. "But in this relationship, I learned that 'forever' doesn’t need to look the same throughout the entirety of a relationship. ‘wait for forever’ is a song about giving my partner a chance to go through what I got to go through before meeting her – finding herself. And reminding both of us that that doesn’t need to be scary – it can be normal. It’s about me letting her go if ever she needs me to, and that I’ll be here waiting for her, forever, when she’s ready to come back – that I'm certain about us, even if she’s ever not.”

Fine has already been having a successful year with "BODY," her collaboration with Shawn Desman that has landed on many of Billboard's Canadian charts. She first rose to prominence on the CTV singing competition show The Launch alongside Elijah Woods. Her subsequent solo career found her signed to the major label Universal Music Canada, and she became a mainstay of Canadian pop radio.

Billboard Canadian Hot 100 & Billboard Canadian Albums Charts Undergo Methodology Changes for 2026

Below is an explainer on the charts’ new streaming weights.

Following the switch of the Billboard Canadian Albums chart to a new weighting methodology to match that of the United States-based Billboard 200, the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 songs chart has shifted to the updated paid to ad-supported 1:2.5 streaming ratio. This is effective with the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 chart dated Jan. 31, 2026

As previously reported, Billboard’s charts have added more weight to on-demand streaming to better reflect an increase in streaming revenue and changing consumer behaviors. As part of the change, paid/subscription on-demand streams continue to be weighted more favourably compared to ad-supported on-demand streams, with the ratio between the two tiers narrowing from 1:3 to 1:2.5 based on analysis of streaming revenue.
