Could Drake be returning to the desert in 2027?
According to HitsDailyDouble, the 6 God is currently being considered as a headliner for the 2027 edition of Coachella, the massive two-weekend music and arts festival in Indio, California. The music industry publication reported the rumour in its HitsList column today (Oct. 2), which compiles big industry updates and rumours, writing that Drake is "said to be in the Coachella discussion."
The headlining stint would add to an illustrious comeback year for the rapper, who dominated the Billboard charts with his trio of albums Iceman — which went No. 1 for five weeks on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart and also debuted atop the Billboard 200 — Maid of Honour and Habibti. Drake kept his foot on the gas by dropping an hour-long short film titled FOMO full of unreleased new music in September, with four tracks dropping on streaming services today as part of the Habibti (FOMO) deluxe.

If Drake lands atop the 2027 bill, he would be returning to Coachella as a headliner for the first time in over 12 years after closing out both Sunday dates in 2015. He was just two months removed from releasing his mixtape If You're Reading This It's Too Late at the time and played a career-spanning set. He also brought Madonna onstage as a surprise guest, spawning a now-infamous onstage kiss. He last appeared at the festival in 2017, joining Future as a special guest for a handful of songs including their joint hit "Jumpman."
While Drake already achieved headliner status, his commercial success has multiplied since. He earned his first two No. 1s on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 in 2016 with Rihanna's "Work" and his hit "One Dance," now boasting a record number of 14 chart-topping songs in Canada, a record he briefly held by himself in May before being tied by Taylor Swift.

A pair of Coachella sets would add two blockbuster performances to Drizzy's touring schedule for 2027, as he's already revealed plans for a world tour. It would be another major Canadian moment for the festival after Justin Bieber headlined this year's edition, delivering two memorable but polarizing performances that took over the internet as Bieber took a trip down memory lane with YouTube onstage.
It could be a big viral moment for Drake and Coachella. His headlining stint at Wireless Festival 2025 in London highlighted his different fortes, with each of the three nights dedicated to his R&B catalogue, his hip-hop catalogue and his Caribbean-influenced music. His trio of 2026 albums were similarly distinct in terms of genre.
After giving fans a first taste of Iceman live during Don Toliver's Toronto concert and receiving a roaring ovation, it's clear fans are ready for Drake to hit the big stage, and Coachella could be an epic addition to his current hot streak.
