New & Upcoming Canadian Albums: Debby Friday Announces 'The Starr of the Queen of Life,' PUP & Propagandhi Release New Albums
Polaris Music Prize winner Debby Friday will release her new album on Aug. 1, while two noted punk bands head our list of new albums out this week.

Two of Canada's top punk bands of the past 30 years lead the list of new album releases this week. Veteran Winnipeg political-punk outfit Propagandhi return with At Peace, though the less than peaceful Canada/U.S. relations of late may be a contributing factor in the band's decision to cancel a planned U.S. tour.
Toronto favourites PUP, meanwhile, will play a six-venue tour of their hometown in July in support of their new full-length, Who Will Look After The Dogs? They are set to begin an extensive U.K. and European tour this month. Here's a cut from the new record.
Also delivering new music this week is Barenaked Ladies keyboardist Kevin Hearn, with Portland Parish, recorded in Jamaica. He has long maintained a career as an acclaimed solo artist alongside his BNL work. Pop-dance star Lights returns with her sixth album, A6, Toronto indie rock heroes Lowest Of The Low release Over Years and Over Nightand are now on an Ontario tour, Reuben and The Bullhorn Singers (the new project of Reuben and The Dark's Reuben Bullock) debut with All These Roads, Montreal DJ and musicians collective Moonshine (featuring Pierre Kwenders) comes out with MS for Location, Vol. 6 and WCMA Award-winning global artist Kelly Bado serves up Belles âmes (Good People).

The most significant new album announcement is that, on Aug. 1, alternative electronic music artist Debby Friday will release The Starrr Of The Queen Of Life, the eagerly-awaited follow-up to her 2023 Polaris Prize-winning album, GOOD LUCK. Also announcing upcoming release dates are pop craftsman Steven Taetz, with Fruit (out June 13), and Vancouver artist Yawn, with wish i could've, out the same day.
Here is the full list of new and upcoming Canadian album releases.
