Since joining SiriusXM Canada in 2022, Michelle Mearns has led programming amplifying Canadian music and deepening community impact. In 2023, SiriusXM launched Mixtape: North, Canada’s first 24/7 channel dedicated to music from BIPOC communities across Canada. One of her proudest achievements of the last year was the official launch of Dhamaka, a channel dedicated to South Asian music featuring artists from Canada and across the globe. With Canada a leader in the Punjabi Wave, it's a savvy reflection of a globalizing national music landscape. Other programming highlights of the year include the daily morning show The Boost, the discussion show No Offense, But... hosted by Tara Slone and The Indigiverse channel, which showcases Indigenous music, artists and culture. SiriusXM also partners with the Canadian Country Music Awards on the Top of the Country competition, in 2024 awarding Zach McPhee the $25,000 grand prize.
