YouTube is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and is touting some impressive stats: over $1.8 billion to the Canadian GDP in 2023, over 45,000 monetizing channels in Canada, and used by 98% of Canadian adults. As Head of YouTube Canada, Andrew Peterson oversees the platform’s operations across the country. With over 90% of Canadian creator watch time coming from outside the country, Peterson is focused on helping export Canadian culture globally. In 2025, YouTube became the No. 1 podcast platform in Canada, aligning with a global milestone of over 1 billion monthly podcast users. On the music side, YouTube Music, led by Gabriel Obadia, Head of Music in Canada, is one of the top three streaming revenue drivers to music partners in the country and supported a number of Canadian artists, including a campaign celebrating Quebec artists like Klô Pelgag, Fredz, Pierre Kwenders and Roxane Bruneau.
